Unless something changed during the day today, I thought the impressions from Gruden's press conference were leaning in the direction of Reed playing on Sunday.

Cravens is out, but honestly I didn't think he had been playing particularly well over the past several weeks. He gets caught out of position a LOT on defense. Must drive Manusky crazy.

Ah I hadn't seen the report yet.

If he's not anywhere close to ready though I'd rather he rested till the playoffs. Last I read he said he lacked arm strength to push off.

We've got Crowder and Davis who have been underused lately. (Though Davis hasn't helped himself with a couple of drops!)

Yeah, he's a rookie and sometimes does rookie things.

But I love the energy he brings. And lest we forget he was the difference the last time we played the Giants. Lol

The injury I am most concerned about is Chris Baker's ankle.

The defensive line is really operating on a thin margin.

We have Ziggy Hood playing out of position at NT despite the fact he is a career DE.

We have Trent Murphy and Ryan Kerrigan now taking reps at DE because we don't have depth outside.

The only saving grace is that the Giants have as little in terms of blue chip talent on their OL as we have on our DL

Couple of other tidbits of info on ESPN for those that haven't read it. First they did an article comparing all the playoff contenders to historic teams...

This year's Washington splits are 4/25/15 while playing the league's third-toughest schedule. I also hope that Dalvin Cook somehow ends up here, but he'll go by the 3rd round...would he get to the 29th or 30th pick in the 3rd round?

You have to respect Belichick even though he is an asshat off the field.

The offensive line for his 14-2 Patriots team in 2016:

Center: David Andrews, Undrafted Free Agent
Guard: Joe Thuney, rookie #3 draft pick
Guard: Shaq Mason, #4 pick in 2015
Tackle: Nate Solder, #1 pick in 2011 (#28 overall)
Tackle: Marcus Cannon, #5 pick in 2011

We have found value in mid-round picks like Morgan Moses and Jamison Crowder, but need to be more effective going forward, especially in regards to rebuilding the defensive front.

We need #3, #4 and #5 picks for the DL and ILB that can come in here and get on the field in Year 1 or Year 2 and make the kind of difference the players in NE do.

So, what's everyone's preference on playoff opponent, for Round 1 ?
Detroit, Green Bay, Seattle, or Atlanta ?

With the exception of Atlanta, all of those opponents represent a chance at redemption.

Exactly.

But one thought - we lost to the Seahawks in 2005, 2007 and 2012. Each time we came into the game with a different team, different quarterbacks and we played games both on the road and at home. And couldn't get a win.

I don't want to see the Seahawks again. At least not until this team becomes successful in the postseason, building up credibility against other opponents.

Player or team performance will not suffer, as a result of fans looking past an opponent

The NFC is wide open. Especially if Dallas enters the postseason with the yips due to all the rookies and younger players they have on the roster.

What they have going for them that Washington, Green Bay, Seattle, and New York don't is that their quarterback does not have to win games by himself.

Prescott has an MVP candidate running back and all-pro line to operate behind.

In comparison, a team like Seattle has a good defense, but almost no running game and their offensive line across the board may be among the worst of the teams headed to the playoffs.

Russell Wilson has to run and pass like a fiend for the Seahawks to beat people.

Which is why, hopefully we get in the playoffs, I would rather play them. The 12th man has lost it's luster. The team has lost it's main weapon on their playoff runs over the past 5 years...Marshawn Lynch. Their defense is still good, but our offense is better than any offense they've see in the most recent playoff games against them, and they're just not as good as they once were.

I would rather play them than a hot Green Bay team in Wisconsin in January.

I am hoping that this year's Dallas team, which bears similarities to the 2012 Redskins, ends up with the same result.
I am looking at rookie Prescott is their version of the 2012 RG3, and their rookie Elliott, as their version of the 2012 Alfred Morris.
And I realize there are many differences between them.
I'm just focusing on the similarities, and hopefully they find the same result we did in that year - one and done in the playoffs, due to lack of experience, etc. And the one year ends up being a flash in the pan with them as well, like it was with RG3.
