Knight, hard to see from the UK, but the Bills fans are some of the most loyal and passionate in the NFL. Like Green Bay, they are all that town has to root for and its fanatic. Just because they've been on the losing side for a long time, their fans haven't abandoned them, just like Washington.

They're also scattered everywhere in the DMV, as most in this area who have left the rust-belt. When my wife and I went to the preseason game against Buffalo a few years ago, the lot attendant was immediately thankful to see me in 'Skins jersey...

I was at the Caps' home finale of the '06-'07 season when the Sabres beat us to clinch the President's Trophy (We were waaaaaaaaaaay out of contention that year, the Sabres just needed to win one more game). There were maybe six Caps fans in the entire place, my neighbor and I being two and my wife gloating. My in-laws said it sounded like Sabres home game when they watched it on TV in Buffalo.

Dad gum it fear, nothing like jinxing us (but I skipped your post). Like Carolina, the Giants have historicly owned us. The vegas line is bogus. we won last time with two ints and special teams. If Eli implodes we win otherwise......my asspucker is off the charts.

What in our history of cluster-**** games with the New York ****ing Giants would make you think we will ump out to early lead? I hope to God that happens, but good Lord. They are an albatross to us, our kryptonite, whatever you want to call it.

If we can beat them, I think we have the potential to make some noise in the playoffs even with an historically awful defense. But I in no way, shape or form am looking past NY. I don't give a **** if they are going to rest starters or whatever. They have owned us historically and I hope the team is preparing for a full out, 60 minute battle.

I don't expect this game to be easy at all, and not for any duration during the game. But I do expect us to win. I expect them to come out motivated, focused, and playing their best ball. And not merely just because it's 'make or break' for the playoff sitation, but also for their jobs, as well. Quite a few players and coaches know that this game may be a final chance to secure their spot on the team. And others are playing for better FA money (with us or for another team) such as Cousins, Jackson, etc.

I expect Kirk to have a case of jitters missing early receivers, getting ourselves into a hole, then watching our playoff hopes disappear as we are incapable of stopping them while trying to catch up.

This is exactly where Kirk Cousins needs to prove his worth. He is going to get his contract, I think he should, but he needs to quiet those of us who think he hasn't gotten past the nerves of the big game. He has yet to produce in a big way, games this meaningful, anywhere near consistent enough.

Well last weeks game was a pretty big one. We were coming off a dreadful loss, playing away, needing help to get to the playoffs and playing a team that had given the red hot Packers all they could handle the week before.

Kirk was cool and calm and played one of the best games of his career.

That was must win game #1

The pressure is admittedly even higher this week, but I'd disagree that Kirk hasn't come up big in pressure games. Plus he's a relatively young inexperienced QB who hasn't HAD many big games like this in his realistically 2 year career. How many big games has he realistically been in?

I think he'll be fine. I think (hope) this team hit a groove last week. I think it'll be a close game though. Their defense is pretty good, while ours is bad. We won't score 40 on them and they'll find scoring easier on us. It's a bad matchup in that respect.

A couple of things I am getting pretty tired of hearing about:

1. The media, both on TV and the radio, seem obsessed with the idea of a tie between Detroit and Green Bay. What a stupid idea to spend 30 minutes talking about on mainstream media today, but there you go. In my mind these teams are going in opposite directions. The Packers have won 4 in a row, Rodgers is once again healthy with the hamstring and able to make plays off schedule, and other key players Clay Matthews and James Starks are now also nearer to 100% and contributing. Meanwhile, the Lions are on a downward spiral. They seem to be fading in the second half of the season, losing the past couple of weeks. Stafford is not nearly as sharp as he was when he was winning games by himself earlier on. The Cowboys game pointed up that the Lions offensive line and defensive backfield with the injuries are vulnerabilities that will be hard to overcome.

I don't think this one is going to be that close. Detroit needed to win last week but seemed to give up once the Cowboys showed they were going to match Stafford's production, tying it up at 21-21. The Lions might as well have booked an early flight home and forfeited the game from that point. It was hard to remember watching the game that Dallas was the one with nothing to play for.

2. Who is playing for the Giants and how much. The Redskins beat the Giants with all of their starters in NY earlier this season. It's not as if this game is a mismatch even if it meant something to both teams. The last time I checked out the Giants they were in the process of losing to the Eagles, then a 5-9 team. The Giants are going to play this game without two key defensive starters from Game 1 in any event, namely Jason Pierre-Paul and Janoris Jenkins. That should be enough of an advantage for Washington, if the Redskins truly deserve to be playoff contenders.

Against Chicago, one of the worst teams in the league. That should be expected, not applauded as something great. I have been to many games that Kirk has had the opportunity to take it to the next level, and doesn't against teams we should beat, Carolina is the most recent...his first pass against them? A simple out pattern that he's completed at least 20 times this year, he threw into the ground to a wide open receiver.

Chicago came in with a top ten defense. It's ok to give Kirk a little credit now and then.

You can count the Arizona and Carolina games.

But also don't forget the Detroit game.

We moved the ball up and down the field against a suspect defense but failed to score touchdowns in key situations.

That lack of production in the early stages of the contest gave Stafford the opportunity to affect the outcome with under 2 minutes left on the clock (not to completely let Barry's bend AND break defense off the hook).

Given how the Cowboys absolutely drilled the Lions defense last week with everything from draw plays to off tackle runs to flanker option passes for TDs, it only makes our output against Detroit look that much more suspect.

I am still waiting for the Redskins coaches to trust Cousins to throw the slants and crosses that are supposed to be staples of the WCO.

Instead, most of the passing game is directed to the outside, against the sideline. Which seems to indicate that the coaches are leery that Cousins throwing in the middle of the field will hit targets with the other jerseys on.

That's not 'franchise' to me.

Don't get me wrong Chicago are not a great team. But you can't just take generalities like their season record and decide that they were easy meat.

Since Cutler went out and Barkley came in they looked better. I watched that Green Bay game with wifey and it really worried me. GB came into that game red hot, Aaron Rodgers playing his best ball of the season and they gave the Pack everything they could handle. GB we're lucky to squeak that win.

Now factor in how bad we'd looked against the Panthers. That was arguably the worst this team had played across the board all season.

Also factor in the fact that the playoffs were at that point out of our control and that was a must win game for us, against a fiesty bears team coming off a good performance while we had to prove the previous week was a fluke.

In my opinion that was no gimme game. We had a lot to prove last week. They had weapons and our Defense gave up 452 yards to them. We won because Barkley had a meltdown.

Barkley looks much like Cousins a couple of years ago. The talent I think is there, but he imploded after that first mistake. Just like Kirk used to.

I predicted a blow out last week because a) I thought we'd bounce back as we've been pretty solid on Offense all year and the Panthers game seemed like an outlier. b) the Bears D looked vulnerable to me after watching Rodgers cut through them and we have better weapons. And c) I didn't see 5 ints but did see Barkley throwing at least 1 or 2.

This week is a bad matchup of our strength vs their strength and our weakness vs their weakness. They spent a lot of money on their D and it's carried them. It'll make life tough for our Offense. Tougher than the Bears.

Meanwhile their Offense has looked tepid, but we have a defense that could make them look good.

I think maybe this comes down to an Eli interception. He's thrown at least one a game and our secondary should be on the hunt after last weeks glut!

Agree in spades. I don't want to rag on Kirk right now, but the team on the whole has a history of not rising to the occasion on must win big games (save the Gibbs years). The only thing I'll say about Kirk is.....if I see him shrug shoulders and throw up his hands to the sky with that "what is going on out here" look, I'll absolutely blow a gasket. That is a sign its gotten in his head, and we need his head in the game focused.

On the Giants, I saw that McAdoo said all players are playing all game. And this is how it works in the league and especially NFCEast. Rivals love to play spoiler and eliminate their rival. They want nothing more than to eliminate the Redskins. Payback. Add to that, we seem never to win games where key players are out for the other team. That has always baffled me and why I don't root for injuries or be happy about them. Call it Karma or whatever, but whenever the Cowboys brought in a backup QB off the bench, they win. Giants are no different. I'll say it again, we have to score on every possession no points left on the field. Build a good lead if that's possible, and they may pack it in. But keep it close and they may pull it out of their arse.

The other thing to mention...

We're criticising an Offense that is near the top of the league. Top 10 in most categories.

We're number 3 it total Offense.
Number 2 in Passing.
=5 in Downs
14th in Rushing (this needs improvement lol)
Number 2 in receiving
Etc etc.

Point is how much better could we actually be on Offense?

If our Defense could have been simple AVERAGE our record could be maybe 3 or 4 games better, we'd be in the playoffs and this would all be a moot discussion.

Our Offense has carried this team.

McAdoo sidestepped the question of resting players by saying that he had '53 starters' on his roster.

So, that says to me his first 11 on both sides of the ball may not see that much action.

But as we talked about before, the Redskins beat the Giants with all of their starters playing the full four quarters.

It's not like this is a New England vs. Cleveland type game where we as the Browns have to hope the Patriot are starting Brissett to have a chance to win

And the Giants are without two top starters on defense in Pierre Paul and Jenkins regardless of how McAdoo is going to play it.

So, that's an advantage over Game 1.

I'm not going to over-analyze this game. We're gonna win.

OK, but then according to the ESPN 980 folks you NOW have to worry about a tie in the Detroit-Green Bay game

If they do rest starters it helps.

But also remember we're without Cravens and Reed and maybe more.

I suspect they'll start their starters to keep them 'warm' and then start pulling them early.
