PFT: Report: Scot McCloughan expected to be the new G.M. in Washington

Mike, my purpose was not to go back down memory lane. We can argue the minutae of just how the Redskins effed specific things up over the decades all day.

My point was that the Redskins, and Snyder, have a LONG habit of saying one thing and doing another, which then results in losing a lot of games. Snyder just said something we all want to hear. That's awesome. To circle back to your original post in this little discussion, I'd like to see him actually do what he says this time before I expect his critics to shut up about it.

Hold on there! Wasn't that MY point?! We finally hired a GM and then you decided to bring up Allen, Schotty, and Gibbs?

My point was that it won't ever matter what he does; people will always have some complaint about him. Even ones that are 13 years old and have no relevancy. It's like the old "blame Mara" for everything shtick. Nobody can actually believe that Mara is pulling all the destructive strings that happen to us...but every chance there is a "F Mara" post or comment slid in there. And, I get it. People have a hard time of believing when they feel slighted.

But, from where I'm sitting, he has been hands off for at least 5 years. Plenty of time for Shanahan and company to have gotten it together better than this. This problem goes deeper than an owner who likes to meddle.

The fact that Snyder made a statement saying he was going to be hands-off ought to tell you something. What other owner does that? The fact that the Redskins have been saying one thing and doing something else as Henry said since Snyder bought the team should also tell you something. The Redskins have continued to make the same kind of mistakes since Snyder bought the team under numerous different coaching staffs and FOs. There have been 2 constants since 1999: Snyder and losing.

Again, I love the hire, but I'm not ready to celebrate yet.

Of course it will matter what he does. If he wins, that will matter.

He can SAY whatever he wants until then. THAT doesn't matter.

Just win.

Oh, and eff Mara.

well, some people just don't win no matter how hard they try. I've seen it in sports, relationships, everything. Kind of like you when arguing with me.

puppet ;)

If Snyder never wins here he'll never hear the end of it. Should it be otherwise? Do fans usually say 'that guy sucks but he's trying super-hard so let's keep him on our team!'

You're adorable. :)

Sycophant. :p

Sycophant? TO YOU?! SHIRLEY YOU JEST!!

I am adorable...in a barbarian "i will eat your children" type of way. I get that a lot. But, Henry. I am a man first...looks should be second so we don't run in to any problems with you falling for me....again.

I'm done arguing for Snyder...for now. I think you have gotten a big enough lesson that you I don't want to confuse you with too much at once.

I think he has been more hands off than usual but i have heard he has made some suggestions dont know if he forced them on shanahan and allen or not?

I never jest.

And don't call me Shirley.

One of the biggest problems with Snyder is that he still attends every single practice. That's not helping anything. Everyone would benefit by him taking a six month cruise or something.

Here we go! We hire someone to come in and turn this tanker around, there is hope instilled in Washington, Mara gets wind of the potential of facing us for the next as winners, and the league ends up taking our first round pick this year.

I will flip the **** out! Don't know exactly what that means other than complaining a lot on this site and others, but...

I doubt the league does a thing. Even if the 'charge' is true, that we interviewed the guy but didn't 'report it', what does that have to do with the intent of the rule? We followed the intent of the rule. The rule itself is a joke, since no team is going to hire anyone, black, yellow, green, or blue, if they don't want to. At worst it's a technicality. There better not be any draft ramifications - because I've had it with NFL bullshit directed my team's way. I believe that would push me right over the edge.

Stripped of Cap Space for spending in a season where there was no cap.

This team has beaten me.

not sure what to think abt synder.

- I know he is ultimately accountable for the performance over his tenure - he's at the top of the chain.

- he does seem to have backed off

- if I buy an nfl football team....I'm letting football people run it....but I'm definitely enjoying the perks whether that is attending practice or hangin w/players! what's the point otherwise?! gotta have sum fun along the way :)
