Desean Jackson in Burgundy and Gold?

Should the Redskins Sign WR Desean Jackson?

  • Yes - the Redskins badly need a starter opposite Garcon!

  • Yes - but only if the contract strongly favors the Redskins.

  • No - he's not the kind of player this team needs.

  • I would prefer not, but will take a wait-and-see attitude and hope Gruden can 'coach him up'.

Westbrook, Gardner, Kelly, Thomas, Coles, Morgan, Hankerson, etc.

There have been too many guys coming through Washington with expectations of hopefully being the answer (or part of the answer) to our WR needs and failing to deliver long-term over the years.

Out of that group Coles is the closest comparison. Until he was injured he was a real asset.

I see that text perfectly Chris...

No secret I was totally against this happening. But it has.

As is my way, once you don the uniform, all I can do is hope for the best. I never root against a team member, unless they give reason.

So, he starts with a clean slate. All of his problems, no need to list them again, happened somewhere else. His demerits are reset to zero.

But you'll have to bare with me, and remember, there's another slate that's wiped clean. His stats. They're meaningless, because they too happened somewhere else.

Right now he has 0 catches, for 0 yards.
0 rushes, for 0 yards.
0 returns, for 0 yards.
He's contributed to 0 wins, and 0 losses.

And he's been paid $16 million for it.

I'll stop my criticism now, and hope for the very best.
But I'll hold any excitement until after he actually accomplishes something that warrants it, on the field, in a Redskins uniform.

DeSean Jackson’s Moves Make Cowboys the Team To Beat

My life is Cowboys football which means I get plenty of attention from fans of the Houston Texans and our fellow NFC East opponents. It was these fans that informed me that former Eagles receiver, DeSean Jackson had signed with Washington. I really thought it was an April Fool’s joke!

Since it’s true, I believe that it locks up the NFC East for the Cowboys.

Thats adorable.

EDIT: The best part of the article is the first line of the author's bio:

"I was born a Dallas Cowboy fan in Washington, DC., currently a resident of Jacksonville, FL ..."

That, my friends, is your typical Dallas fan. :)

I'll give the Redskins credit for one thing at this point...

They certainly know how to get the hype machine rolling and the excitement levels amped up among the fan base following sub .500 seasons like no other.

People are chomping at the bit to see this offense take the field.

Going into Year 1 with a new coach and still several major questions marks along an offensive line that was awful in many regards last year, expectations need to be reasonable.

Personally, I'd be elated with a respectable 8 win season in 2014 after the debacle that was the Mike Shanahan era, minus a 7 game stretch.

I dont think that the realistic fans would disagree with you. PERSONALLY I could see an argument that we contend for the division, but I dont really thing those planets will align this year. I do think 8 wins is a realistic expectation/goal for this team. Last year we had all the things that went right for us in 12.... go wrong. Sub-par QB play (for a list of reasons) matched with disgraceful special teams play, and a division opponent with a 'revolutionary' system that NOBODY saw coming, all played against us... It appears we've addressed those situations at a minimum, which should warrant an expectation of 4-5 games

I think we're a much better team than our record indicated last year. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us win 10 games and take the NFCE again. The Shanahans lost the lockerroom last year - that had a huge negative impact. Coupled with Griffin still recovering from his knee repair and you had a lost season. Both of those factors are hopefully resolved. And some believe Haslett is now free to be the HOF D coordinator he would've been if not imprisoned by the evil Shanahan. I'm not one of those, but some believe that...

A team with a healthy, franchise-level QB should expect to win at least 8 games a season in this league. If Griffin is healthy and we win 4-5 games, either he isn't really that good, or Gruden isn't.
