Again, that's true for any team that take a flyer on a FA and misses. Which is pretty much every team.

Morgan and the money we're paying him is not the reason we are losing. I wouldn't even put him in the top five.
 
But it's symptomatic of the misses this team had had in free agency and some deals. Jamaal Brown like Morgan was hurt when we acquired him and instead of getting a value play we ended up signing him to a bloated contract that he never really stepped on the field to earn.

Morgan admitted over the summer that his first year was limiting because of the screws in his foot and the rehab he still needed to do.


So, why did we pay a hurt backup from SF starters money?

The $12M over 2 years could have brought us a veteran safety or even Aqib Talib in free agency.

The opportunity cost here was high if you look at the cap numbers.
 
Josh Gordon rumors are hotter than ever right now. Did anyone see Schefter's report last night? He claims two teams are pushing hard, and one of them has offered up a player and a pick. Coincidence that this comes out hours after the news that we are shopping Davis?

If the Browns are dumb enough to take Sleepy and a 3rd for Gordon, then I'm behind this trade. 100% behind it.

I would be shocked if he gets traded at this point.

If he gets traded, it ain't gonna be Davis. It's gonna be someone who hurts, like Helu. Magical trades never happen.
 
Schefter speculated that if the Browns lose this weekend they are likely to throw in the towel, and would then be open to moving him.

Pray for a Browns loss imho.

Personally, I'd put the odds of him landing in DC at 90% at this point. We have to be salivating over his cheap contract and huge potential right now.

NFL trades rarely involve two players; its usually a player for a pick. I doubt we give up anyone for Gordon, if we go after him at all.

Ugh...I really don't want this guy in DC. Right as the offense starts clicking you throw in a me-first player who is a slightly better version of Aldrick Robinson? No thank you.

I dunno. Outside of the McBust trade, Bruce has done some good things. He got Carriker for a stack of pancakes.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure he's significantly better than Aldrick. As far as being me-first, he is a wide reciever....:p

Slightly better version of Aldrick Robinson? The two have nothing in common, except speed.
 
IMO, Reed and Garçon are the keepers as receivers with Helu solidifying the third down role out of the backfield.

I don't expect Moss back in 2014 and I would have to question whether Hankerson and Robinson if returning will play as prominent roles.

Morgan will be moving on as a FA.

This team needs a productive every down receiving threat across from Garçon to really make this offense go, and that player is not currently on the roster.
 
I have been on board with trying to get him in DC and that puts me at odds with most of the members here. Don't be surprised if this happens. If Gordon has any kind of say in a trade, he may prefer to be with his Baylor teammate. I don't know if it is a 90% chance, but I would put it at 50-50 if the Redskins are interested.

I dunno...looking at his game logs shows a couple huge games interspersed between mediocre games, and most of his numbers come from the deep ball. Seems almost exactly like Aldrick, except Aldrick has a couple good games interspersed between games where he's done nothing. Just my interpretation of his stats though; I haven't actually watched him play outside of highlights.

I'm going by the report stated in this thread that some team offered a pick and a player, and that that team might be us, and that that player might be Davis.

I'm just saying I doubt that.

If this guy Morgan is super-duper amazing, we're not getting him for a ham sandwich.
