Yeah we need to shore up the sacks n stuff before thinking about our next hof WR.

Edit: We don't need to recognize it but ShanAllen needs to quit avoiding high round lineman like they're the bubonic plague.

Yes, we need another WR to compliment Garcon...and hell, at this point I will even go so far as to suggest a trade for Josh Gordon might not be a bad idea...I would offer Brian Orakpo for him!

But once again, our weakness came through in shining colors! Polumbus and Chester called for holding on crucial plays. Kory Lichtensteiger getting blown up at the point of contact! The only time griffin had time to throw the ball was after we'd blown any chance of taking a lead and they rushed only 3 of four at at time and they were still getting to Griffin! Hell, Griffin had no pocket presence and took a couple of sacks he shouldn't have.

But for ****'s sake, would you please shut up about how the WR is the most important position on the field in today's NFL! It is and will always be the QB, after that you need to protect him! Especially with a QB who holds onto the ball too long!
 
Our O-line played it's worst game of the season. Even still, it wasn't THAT bad.

Morris had a big run, and RG3 had time.

It seemed like nearly every single pass went to Garcon. Reed looked good too at TE.

The Josh Gordon boat has sailed. After another 7 receptions for 126 yards today, we have no chance of getting him now. They'll demand at least a first.

We need both: Oline and another wideout.

McD5's point stands and I was wrong.

But more and more..it's looking like RG3 can't read a defense and locks onto his first option and that's it.

This franchise has been so taxing the last 20 years... The whole fan base's psyche has taken one hell of a beating......
 
We need to not give up huge special teams plays and we need to not turn the ball over inside our five yard line. Our WRs did not have a great game but they weren't the problem. If we played (relatively) mistake free ball like we did last year we win that game. Just like we did last year.

That still ignores the big question of besides Garcon, who is going to catch TDs for the next five seasons?

Hank, 6 targets, 2 catches doesn't cut it.

Josh Morgan obviously doesn't cut it.

We can't win like this if we ever need to score 40 points.
 
I don't see asking for a WR2 that has more than 2 career TDs in 6 years as unreasonable.

I can't believe I even just typed that. That goes without saying. Big improvements are needed.
 
I'm definitely not in favor of a big contract, like we already have with Morgan.

A rookie contract, or something much more reasonable than $5 million a year? Of course.

Reed is the answer to your question. This dude is going to be exciting in another 6 games or so. He's too fast for most LBers and too strong for most DBs. He is a matchup nightmare that is only going to improve. Write it down. He will be joining the Gronk, Graham category of young, athletic TEs within 2 years.

If you're talking about Morgan, he has 2 TDs in two years with us. Not six.

And he's not our #2.

Our #2 is Hankerson. He's got 5 TDs in basically a year and change, most of which he was coming off a major injury.

This season he's got 2 TDs in five games. Maybe that's what you meant to say.

No WRs had a good game last night. On either team. You dont base a roster strategy on one game.

That's why the signing of Morgan for $12M has hurt so much. For a cap hit of $6M we should be getting Jordy Nelson or Demarious Thomas production. Instead we have a player that can't separate cleanly from Hankerson and Robinson who are backup quality wideouts at this point.
 
Then how come the guys here can't work their way into the strengths of this system?

The WRs we have here are all in year 2 or 3 with the team but are developing so slowly it will be 2016 by the time we get sufficient production out of them.

Because our QB is not playing very well right now. At the moment his long ball is all but non-existent. He's slowly getting his legs back but he's clearly not comfortable yet.

This game showed us nothing in terms of our WR. We were facing a defense that had just gotten seriously torched and were playing way above their head ... the opposite of thier offense. What should have been a close defensive battle was blown apart by our special teams crapping the bed and by Bob over-estimating his legs and not throwing the ball away ... something he's had trouble with his entire career here but is amplified by the fact that he's still very rusty.

If not for us gifting them a TD, two red zone posessions and a turnover when we had the ball in the red zone, we win the game. No team can survive a four score swing like that. I don't care who the WRs are.

WRs didn't cost us this game. The OL didn't cost us the game. Stupid mistakes and mental errors, things we just didn't do last year, cost us.

I never said WR was a top priority. But what I am saying is that we allocated some significant dollars to this position, to the detriment of others, and are still waiting for a real return.
