Sproles and Colston have almost identical stats receiving and if you throw Thomas in there, they almost equal Graham. Graham is hands down the best TE in the game and they were under .500 last season.

Schemes and Coaches require certain players to be successful at certain positions. Some gameplans need an elite WR, others dont. Our gameplan does not REQUIRE "The Posse." We have the ability to go vertical, Hankerson is starting to play big, and Garcon is a playmaker. We utilize the TE position up the seam and with Griffin being comfortable and confident, he can spread it around. Pair that with a good play action game, and a strong running game, and we can.. oh i dont know, win a division?

If we want RG3 to pass more and run less, another receiving threat isn't optional. It's mandatory.

Right now it's way too easy to defend us.

no... Manning/Brady/Rodgers MAKE their WR Elite. Look at Greg Jennings... he's mediocre in Minnesota...

This team does not need to search for the "missing piece." They're building the correct way. We've got legit depth at TE, RB, QB. If Griff can either get time, or create time, you will see the WR continue to elevate their production.

We are 5 weeks into a bad beginning to a season... we finished the 1st quarter of the year and it's time to try to win the 2nd. To think the WRs are what's made this team 1 - 3 this year is comical, i'm just not going to agree with you.

Green Bay threw the ball that year more than any team in history if memory serves. You are going to take more sacks and blanket stats are going to make it look worse than it is. They did not win the Super Bowl because they had "elite" WR"s! They won because Aaron Rodgers is great! And they're defense was unstoppable! Not because their WR's. You keep talking about how great certain WR"S are but fail to understand that those players are receiving passes from the best in the biz who are going to make them look better. Look at the WR's who played with Brees, Rodgers, Manning and Brady and then look at them once they went for the money...They almost always fall off in production!

We've been behind the times for at least a decade at WR.

I'm assuming you're pointing those guys out because the Giants are playing the Bears right now, but the Giants are 0 - 5, and the Bears are 3 - 2.

The question wasn't how we compare with the rest of the league, though we might be behind the curve, but the question was how we compare to what our own team used to be. And we've made huge strides at that position. And I don't see how fans can be so pessimistic about the position, when we've obviously made huge progress in that area, especially when we have much more glaring needs. What more can you ask for, other than progress ?
Back to my original question, it's may be somewhere between 1-2 decades since we had a receiving corps at the level we're at right now.

We also have a cap penalty that forced a number of players to restructure just to be able to come in under the cap. We dont exactly have the money to start chasing big name FAs. We cant spend a no. 1 pick on a WR, because we cant exactly afford it right now. We have someone to get the ball to them, now we go after depth to keep him upright, as well as depth for him to throw to.

Too, there will be no WRs in the upcoming draft that can match Gordon's skills - none.
