The Browns want a second rounder for him and if you're the Redskins, the move must be made. He is a first round talent and no other receiver in the upcoming draft can match his skillsets. Gordon has a rookie contract that can be absorbed by the team - not a monster contract like we would see with a seasoned veteran. We won't find first round WRs like him in the upcoming draft and we don't have a first rounder anyway.
The team will be free of a cap penalty in March. You NEVER find an elite WR in free agency. It simply doesn't happen. Too, there will be no WRs in the upcoming draft that can match Gordon's skills - none. So, we spend that second rounder on Gordon now and have him on the roster for the next eight to ten years or more. Other needs can be filled in FA and the draft. Gordon, Garcon, Hankerson, Moss, Morgan, and Reed would be a scary corps for any team.
Having Gordon, Garcon, and Hankerson as your main three could do as well as Monk, Clark, and Sanders. Yes, I said it. You make this move now.
