I'm 44 years old, a NOVA native, and have been a Redskins fan my entire life. People here in Florida think I'm Redskin-crazy. But I'm at the end of my rope.

Barring a complete coaching overall, meaning entirely new coaches at every single position at the end of next season, I don't see myself following this team anymore. Four things became extremely clear yesterday:

1. On the fake punt Oakland ran against us. Mike Shanahan is the only moron in the entire league who wouldn't have called a timeout there. The only one! Instead, he figured that Aldrick Robinson could suddenly tackle. Shanahan's ceiling is average--nothing more. He hasn't won a playoff game in over a decade, and it's unlikely that he's entering the prime of his career right now. He's not going to suddenly start winning Superbowls.

2. Shanahan sucks at drafting. I mean really, really sucks. He sucked drafting for the most part in Denver, and it's continued here. John Belushi was a terrible pick. Hurt? Rambo? Niles Paul? You cannot be serious. Many of his picks were lower round--due to the McNabb debacle, and our move to get a potentially-spectacular RG3. But if you know you suck at drafting in the later rounds, then don't trade down! It's really not that hard. Just admit you aren't good there, and don't back yourself into a corner.

3. When was the last time you saw New England have a punt blocked against them, or a blocked field goal? Who was the POTUS at the time? Our entire coaching staff sucks! It's a normal occurence for a blocked punt or FG for us--it doesn't even phase us anymore. This doesn't happen to real teams. And these are Shanny's coaches. From top to bottom, the entire coaching staff is a disgrace.

4. Who was the last very good or great WR that we actually drafted and developed? Art Monk? Are you kidding me? This is a passing league now, and we haven't drafted a good WR in 20 years. Do HCs here just not like having good WRs?

In summary, it's going to take a new coach at every single position for me to attach myself to mediocrity for the next ten years. And no Kyle. For the love of God, his name is Kyle. When growing up, no one here was ever afraid if they had to fight a kid named Kyle. It didn't exactly spread fear. It's no different now--no one named Kyle has every been successful as a player or coach in league history. Just. Don't. Do it!

I'm not sure the last four letters in your post fit with the rest. :)

Oh, and we DID win yesterday, didn't we? Did I misremember that in my Gator's-Mark-induced stupor?

I don't agree with your analysis or your plan but at this point, I have a hard time faulting anyone for giving up on the organization. It's not what I'm willing to do any time soon, but there are a lot of things to be unhappy about since Snyder took over.

Steelers bandwagon is gonna be really empty after this season, plenty of room to hop on over there.

We are a dropped TD pass away from being 2-2, and at 1-3 still have a legit shot at 1st place in the division. Our QB is coming off major surgery; did anyone really think he'd be as good or better than he was last year? Its going to take some time. I don't understand how you can survive through the Jim Zorn swinging gate years and the Steve Spurrier Chuck 'n Duck years, but you're going to bail when they're finally showing signs of competency? Amazing.

Ultimately this organization will succeed or fail based on what RGIII does and how he and the staff come up with a scheme he is comfortable with when healthy.

John Elway, Peyton Manning didn't win Super Bowls with the coaches that drafted them.

This offense with the ZBS linemen who are not good pass protectors may not be the one Griffin excels in at his peak.

A lot of the rest right now is the cap penalty.

The team had holes it could not fill in 2013.

If we haven't made a post like MCD5's we've at least had thoughts like his cross our minds. I think regardless of how this season pans out (and we all knew it would be a crapshoot with Griffin coming off knee surgery), you have to feel there's hope and promise we can move into the top spot among the NFC East teams for the next 10 years or so.

It's not the time to be jumping off the bus. It's time to get on board and get ready for the ride. We may not reap the rewards this year but I still believe we're building something special.

I don't know what to think! I'm not jumping - but I won't watch PoP Warner league football either. If they look clownish, I'm off playing a round by the 3rd quarter.

Save yourself the grief and aggravation. Quit now.

I've been debating whether or not to post what I've been feeling lately because it's practically heresay, but this seems like a good spot for it. I'm not done with the Redskins. If I was going to abandon them for crappy play I'd have done it like ten years ago. At this point if you're still rooting for the team you should be able to weather the bad times.

So that's not it. But I'm close to being done with NFL football. I really really dislike the overall product. I hate the way defenses are hamstrung. I hate that the league has slowly turned into Arena Football over the past two decades. You want to know why defenseless WRs are getting crushed over the middle? It's because DBs aren't allowed to touch them until they catch the ball. You care about player safety, you allow the DBs to actually touch WRs rather than wait until they try and catch it and see if they can dislodge it. Make WRs work for it again. De-emphasize the passing game where both QBs and WRs are running free at high speeds and not looking where they are going. But God forbid we do that, because people like high scores or something. The hypocrisy is stunning, and everywhere in this league.

I'm happy that we now have a QB but I'm sick of looking at the stat line crawl across the bottom and see "1st Quarter. Mediocre McCrappy: 5/6 72 yards and a TD." Let defenses play, not just pass rushers. Bring back the RB, FB, offensive line. Let this be a game of 11-on-11 and not pitch-and-catch. It's getting boring.

Also the whole Capgate business has really soured me on this league. It's one thing to know that league is nothing but a good ol' boy network. It's another to see it. To be on the brunt end of it. The league is run by cheaters and liars who hold fans and taxpayers hostage for new stadiums and screw over anyone who doesn't fall into line. Goodell is a terrible, terrible commissioner who openly plays favorites. I don't like the idea of contributing to anything that furthers his career.

To top it all off: We all make fun of Jerryworld, but that's the whole league now. Fans denied seats they paid for at the Superbowl. Power goes out during another one. Halftime shows getting out of control. Thursday night games. Double Monday night games. Triple Thanksgiving games. More more more! The draft is now this over-produced three day embarrassment. Every excuse the NFL can come up with to turn an event into some sort of circus is jumped on. Talent is so watered down that 9-7 teams are winning superbowls and 7-9 teams win divisions. And they want to expand the playoffs to include more teams? It's not about the game anymore. It's all spectacle and very little substance. Just keep throwing passes for record-breaking amounts of TDs and noone will notice what a pig the lipstick is on.

I'm really really starting to hate this league. Honestly the only thing keeping me going right now is that I'm having trouble abandoning my Redskins, but their hold on me is only worth so much. I will always root for them. Always. But I don't know how much more of the NFL I can take.

So that's where I am. I don't want to sound like such an old man but this league is turning into garbage, and the momentum is only gathering.

Let me tell you what it was like to be a Redskins fan in the 1960s. H O R R I B L E. Yet, I stuck with it and was finally rewarded with some awesome teams in Gibbs I. I continued to stay with the team over the last twenty years and there is no way that yours truly will abandon them now. Good times are ahead - just watch and see.

Cubs fans are loyal. Ditto for Red Sox fans. Mets fans too. Yesterday's opponent has a very loyal fan base. Same goes for the Jets and Vikings. We stay loyal too - that is what we do. We're not bandwagon types who jump on and off like those who cheer for the Cowboys and Patriots successes and abandon them when they fail. We fight our battles together and unite in our anger at Mara, Goodell, Jerruh, and Eagles fans.

We are Redskins fans who, through thick and thin, will always yell, "Hail To The Redskins"!!!

I'll never understand these types of posts. Why do people feel the need to step up on a podium and project their epic whine to the world? If it's REALLY bothering you that much, just do something else and be done with it. Why the dramatic play for attention to make a loud and proud, public statement that the people you're supposedly fed up with will never read? Why the need to buzzkill everyone else around you, especially after a win? Granted it was a rough win but a win nonetheless. This is exactly why I quit Redskins forums for almost 3 full years, Redskins (and admittedly other NFL) fans are entitled and spoiled and cry when they don't get what they want which seems to be quite often the last decade. To say it's a drag to people like me who tend towards optimism isn't doing it justice. It literally drives us away from communities. I was pissed too, in fact I didn't even watch much of the game live due to disgust, but I don't feel the need to send out a Fan threat notice doing my best to throw a wet blanket on anyone else's enjoyment. Different strokes for different folks but I will never get this.

We had a huge win yesterday. And I think we can even beat Dallas in two weeks.

I'm more concerned in the bigger picture--like can we ever be one of the better teams in the league. With the coaches we have now, I think that answer is a pretty clear no.

I'm not immediately bailing. I'm giving them until the end of next season.

And I wouldn't call what we are seeing as competent....certainly not competent compared to the better franchises in the league.

Henry, I really can't disagree with anything you say. The problem for me, is that there really isn't anything else that comes close. I suppose I could devote my attention solely to the NHL, but then I have like 5 people in the entire country to discuss it with. Futbol? PSHAW. But you're 100% right - the on-field product of the NFL is getting ****tier and ****tier.

Definitely looking forward to FA, where I hope we can fill a few holes like the aformentioned big one at WR. God knows we can't draft or coach one up, so hoping we can find another stud like Garcon on someone else's roster. I'd love to see Josh Gordon.
