Jarvis Jenkins Suspended

No, no! It's only one guy who accidentally drank a bad shake.

Lol....yes, all 8 of them were victims.

This is such stupidity. Dan has a huge wallet. Open it up on something other than veteran free agents, and actually buy tests to administer to the players by our training staff. Problem solved. It really isn't difficult.

If they want supplements or shakes? Then you provide them. Really, this is complete bs. Total dysfunction.

Mark Maske reporting that this now makes at least 8 Reskins that have been suspended for juicing or taking illegal substances--by far the worst in the league. Worse than Seattle.

Yes, someone needs to be fired. Maybe it's finally just time to clean out the entire training staff. This is an organizational problem.

No! No! No! Its Mara...... nobody on our team did anything!

Question my fandom if you will. I don't like cheaters no matter what colors they wear.

Maybe NOT taking a hardline on these situations is why we have so damned MANY of them.

So are you guys completely ignoring the "leaky-cup" defense on purpose? I'm not questioning anyone's fandom, only your rush to judgment.

Yeah...Mara punishing us unfairly is SO out of the question, I mean, that could NEVER happen! Oh wait...where did that $36M in cap space go again?

All due respect but no one knows what happened in Jenkins situation. He is clearly and immediately contrite. It's a mistake not a crime - unfortunate but there are 10 other teams with worse 'crises' than this.

It's not the way we expected camp to start. Carriker lost for the season (probably) and Jenkins gets nailed for whatever got him suspended. There are a couple of good DEs out there and we can sign one or two of them. Let's hope this is the last of the bad news for TC 2013.

FOR ****'S SAKE!

My sentiments exactly....I don't care what the reason is, or who's at fault.. this kind of stuff just blows donkey balls. 2 steps forward....3 steps back. That...and I'm golfing with 3 Ravens fans tomorrow who won't let me hear the end of it!

Get a friggin grip with the whole Mara deal bro.

Since the NFL announced this suspension, the appeals process has already passed in time and the leaky cup defense doesn't fit in comparison here. The difference with others like Sherman and I think like Von Miller is that the failed test was leaked before the NFL issued a suspension. Before the appeals process is carried out. I think.

We're soooo quick to rush to judgement.... wah wah. He's suspended.

Thank you, Boone for injecting reason into this.

I agree with McD5. JJ's excuse is pure BS. I would be completely dumbfounded if the team doesn't have a list of approved supplements and players are told to take nothing that isn't on that list. If they don't, then like McD5 said, it's a problem within the organization.

I know that you guys have never, ever, ever done anything that is against the rules in your workplace. Like show up hungover, or date a coworker, or call in sick when you really weren't, or leave early without permission, or surf the web instead of working, or a hundred other things.

He made a mistake. It happens. If this is the worst thing that happens to our team this year, that's a pretty good NFL year most years.

I got no problem with making a mistake, especially something like this, but at least own up to it and don't say something that makes you look even worse or shifts the blame. That's what he's done imo, shifted the blame, with his response to this. It implies that players on this team take what ever they want and there's no supervision over it.

Or it might be the truth...he doesn't know what caused him to pop positive. I don't see anything but 'I screwed up' in his response. He hurt the team and I think he clearly recognizes that. That's just what I heard in his comments. I'd be a lot more upset if he had been smoking dope in the off-season. I think it's fine to say 'he should have known better than to take anything that wasn't 100% cleared to take. He shouldn't have. But it's also not a 'burn him at the stake' offense. If he doesn't learn his lesson, I'll join those gutting him. But the anger being directed at him is a little ridiculous if you ask me. He didn't run over your kid in the driveway.

I hope Merling pans out.

More than that, I hope Jenkins does come back with a vengeance and prove everyone who scratched their head when we heard his name as a 2nd round pick...so far he has bust written all over him.

My guess is that in the world of supplements, the ingredients lists aren't trustworthy, it's not well regulated, half the raw materials likely come from China, and even the the people manufacturing the stuff couldn't guarantee exactly what's in it.

It's conceivable to me that an athlete buys something he thinks is legit and it turns out to have banned substances in it.

I've shopped at GNC. They've sent me unsolicited stuff in the mail that had cardiac and other warnings all over it. I think you're 100% correct Terry. Doesn't excuse a professional athlete from using poor judgment in taking those kinds of risks, but it's not like he was doing bong hits all off-season. And it's also not on him that we've had a lot of this kind of stuff over the years (most of it, far worse).

Redskins are bringing Joe Mays in for a look-see. He would be a really good replacement for Keenan in 2013.

I imagine the team is doing DD for Carriker replacements too.

From my understanding, every training staff league wide has a list of what's ok and what isn't.

A mistake is a mistake but just how hard is it to go to the training room or call the trainers and ask if this is ok,etc?

OK Jarvis....what's done is done. Learn from it and move forward.

I agree, but envision he's working out with a friend who offers him a recovery drink. 'What is it?'. 'Just a protein shake with some amino acids'. Not saying that's what happened, but it could be something that simple. Is it stupid? Yeah. Could it happen despite a players best intentions? I think so.

Personally, I think the NFL has gone bat-****-crazy with the lists of banned substances. They are doing to effort to stop PEDs a disservice by going so ridiculously overboard. Just my opinion.

Problem at this point has got to be cap space. What can we really offer anybody of any quality besides a kickass QB and a program on the rise.

We're the J. Wellington Wimpy of NFL franchises right now!!!
