MLB 2013 (Primarily non-Nats/O's

Go to your room, Goal.

The adults (and Lanky) are talking.

;)

Actually, its pretty much just you and I in this thread. Here is a recap:

Jugs: Pirates! :)

Lanky: O's! :)

Jugs: Pirates :(

Lanky: O's :(

Jugs: Pirates! :)

Lanky: O's! :)

(repeat until September)

O's have lost 4 straight. :(

I just don't see them having the pitching to maintain their pace...I mean, 97 year-old Freddy Garcia? There has GOT to be a better option. Hopefully Chen comes back, and SOON.

The entire AL-East is in the top 13. Talk about one tough division!

Believe what you will.

Pirates > Orioles.

:)

Rankings are cool and all right now..but we all know the post season is a totally different season and anything can happen.

the cardinals going to the super bowl
the yankees and angels getting swept
the blackhawks scoring 2 goals in 17 seconds

You're absolutely right.

I haven't said anything about the World Series, or even the Wild Card. I think the latter is a distinct possibility, but there IS a lot of baseball to be played. My point all along has been that we're playing great baseball in a great division. And however long the ride lasts, I'm going to enjoy it. That's the point of sports, right?

but I get why you're happy right now and I respect it. your team has sucked..but now that they havent you are proud.

100%.

Let's not even sugar coat it. The Bucs have been mostly garbage for 21 years. The majority of my lifetime, my favorite team has been basically a laughing stock. And you bet your bottom dollar that when we're playing right with the elite teams in the game, I'm going to shout it.

And, especially when it comes to AL vs. NL teams, there doesn't have to be the kind of cutthroat mentality that jrock and I can get into sometimes. I was happy for the O's last year. My post was the last one in the O's thread last year. And it was sincere..."great run, you'll be back."

I suspect the "problem" is the type of fans we all are. We don't root halfway. We don't kinda follow our teams. We're obsessed. We take it personally. And come football season, that'll be a good thing again.

Man, I can't say anything without you wanting to make it into an argument about the Pirates vs. the Orioles! I don't know if you just think I'm arguing all the time, or if your need to be right or whatever is so strong, you'll just keep arguing into oblivion.

The Pirates are good. They might even be the best team in MLB right now. If their hitting comes around, they probably will be. I hope you are enjoying it - I know I would be.

You'll notice I've never once said anything about the Pirates and Orioles as a direct comparison (except last year, when we swept ya ;)), or how good or bad the NL Central as a division is. Your division is good; the top-3 teams are obviously awesome. Your team is good, as your W-L shows.

Better?

True dat. We are a passionate bunch. :)

But I'm sorry, J, I will never be able to root for the Pirates, and you can thank the Steelers & Penguins for that. :)

**** the Steelers and Penguins, I can't root for any Pittsburgh team because of Willie ****in' Stargell!!!

Chris Davis hits another bomb to right field, and now is on top of the home run race by 7. 28 dingers before the halfway point? Wowsers!

Five in a row, 18 over, tied for the BEST record in baseball.

Life is good in the 'Burgh.

RAISE IT!!!

ORIOLES take game one in their series with the Spankees! CC took a no-hitter and a 3-run lead into the 6th - but only the 6th. :)

EDIT: oy vey...Nats instead of Orioles? I need some sleep.

On February 1, 2013, I said this, in the initial post in this thread: "This year, I really believe (the Pirates) are poised for a deeper, and quite possibly playoff, run."

On June 29, 2013, I can say this: The best record in baseball, all by their lonesomes, belongs to THE PITTSBURGH PIRATES.

I predicted 90 wins and a wild card berth. Even .500 ball the rest of the way gets to 90. (90.5 to be exact.) It's starting to look like the biggest Bucs homer I know short-changed his own club.

I may only be able to say this until tomorrow night, but I'm going to enjoy it right now....

WE'RE #1!!!!!!

Raise it.

First team to 50 wins. I'm going to stop mentioning our games-over-.500 after tonight (20.) .500 is no longer any type of goal for this club.

I can't believe we're two games from midseason and on pace for 100+ wins.

In other news, how bout the Padres hanging around? And starting a four-game series with the Marlins. That should be good for the ol' W%.

The Orioles traded disappointing pitcher Jake Arrietta & slumping relief pitcher Pedro Strop to the Cubs today for starting pitcher Scott Feldman. I know next to nothing about this guy - Juggs, what say you? Have you seen him pitch against your Pirates?

EDIT: He HAS to be better than Freddy Garcia...I think I would be better than Freddy Garcia. Yeesh.
