What's for Dinner?

Also made cheesecake, and tried it with Maple Syrup. I haven't tried any (we sent some to the neighbors, and it didn't return), but was told it was excellent.

Man am I whooped. Had today off and just did household projects all day long. Doing cheese tortellini and sauce...and a little garlic bread.

Went to Ray's the Steaks tonight, best steakhouse in DC. Oh man, still stuffed!

Trying a pot of homemade chicken and rice soup tonight...smells great so far

Coated some pork chops in maple mustard, then breaded with flour, then cooked in some olive oil. Also made a carmelized onion potato gratin. All terrific.

Made honey-chipotle turkey meatballs tonight, pretty good. Sweet potato and broccoli on the side.

My first gluten free meal was an awesome one. Burgers made from a mix of sockeye salmon, goat cheese and cranberries on a gluten free ciabatta roll with yellow tomatoes and chipotle mayo, with a side of garlic and lime asparagus.

Simple turkey & salami chopped salad last night w/ an herbed red-wine vinaigrette. Delicious!

Ok so the random thought thread made me hungry for Egg Salad, but not as a sandwich because of my carb starving endeavors.

What are your favorite ways to prepare egg salad?

I typically will use green olives and a dash of Worcestershire sauce in mine.

Tri-tip roast and maple brussell sprouts tonight. We're entertaining, so I'm going to pick out a bacon-focused appetizer as well.

I'm eating chicken, fish, and vegetables almost exclusively right now as I try to get down to fighting weight and get in shape. Might hit the Farmer's Market in the a.m. though and see if they have any ostrich for sale. I love it. Very close to beef in flavor but very lean. Tough to find at times though...

Ostrich? That's a new one on me. Any special instructions needed for preparing it?

I've never done anything but grill it - but it literally is almost devoid of fat (like venison), in fact, less fat than chicken. But it's a red meat and is very tasty. You just have to be careful not to overcook it. If you can find it, try it. If I could get it at the grocery store, I'd probably never buy beef again.

I used to destroy some ostrich burgers at Fuddruckers, then they closed the only one around here, I wanted to cry.

Trader Joe's used to carry it regularly.

Eat it rare, to med-rare.

If you like well done meat, don't bother.

Like Boone, I've only ever grilled it. Marinate it overnight in a mixture of Italian dressing and Worchesthershire(sp?), or about an hour or so before grilling, marinate it in cheap olive oil,(not the good stuff extra virgin, which tastes like ass when grilled at high heat) salt & pepper.

I have fallen in love....with bbq spare ribs. Corkscrew BBQ in Spring, TX - holy balls, best I've ever had. Amazing.
