stevenaa - all due respect, but we didn't 'circumvent' anything. It was an uncapped year - there WERE no rules in place. The NFL had approved the contracts we'd submitted. I don't think there was any 'gentlemans agreement' - I think that's a huge assumption. At worst, the NFL said 'we want you to treat this as a capped year even though it isn't and we'll have a problem with it if you don't' and Snyder/Allen chose to call them on that threat. In al honesty, in a normal world, it should have been an empty threat, because there was no basis for what Goodell and the other owners decided to do. But the Redskins didn't circumvent or violate any written NFL rules. If you know different, I'd love to hear about it.
There's a difference between saying Allen and Snyder miscalculated (they did) and that they tried to do an end-around to bypass or flat out ignored NFL regulations/requirements (they didn't).
