Carriker seeks a fresh start

Expectations have a short shelf-life in the NFL. A player can go from celebrated first round pick to 'never was’ in a very short time. An injury here, a so-so performance there, and the next thing you know a guy is being labeled a bust.

Case in point; Adam Carriker. Carriker was the darling of St. Louis about this time in 2007. He was the stud defensive lineman drafted 13th overall out of Nebraska, where he was voted 2006 Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year by the league’s coaches, and also 2006 First-team All-Big 12 pick by the Big 12 Coaches and the Associated Press.

A few short years later however, Carriker was shipped to Washington for draft pick swaps in the late rounds. He had been labeled a bust by many in St. Louis and some around the league. Now, he is looking for a do-over in Washington.

“I felt like when I was healthy I played well,” said Carriker. “Obviously, part of the time I wasn’t healthy so that’s what frustrated me. Now that I’m healthy I just want to do what I can do here.”
