Shanahan's coaching staff: the story so far

Let's sort out what we know and what we think about Mike Shanahan's coaching staff with the Redskins.

What we know:

Kyle Shanahan will be the offensive coordinator, and he could be in town as early as tomorrow after his wife gave birth to a baby. He won't be introduced until next week, at the earliest, and it's possible the Redskins will not hold news conferences even to introduce their most important assistants.

Jim Haslett will be the defensive coordinator. Much to discuss with him about his defensive alignments, strategy, how he might use Albert Haynesworth and Brian Orakpo, etc.

Bobby Turner will be the assistant head coach-running backs...

Very solid summary by Reid. Nice to have it all in one place. Also good to see that Olivadotti and Miedt are not out as of yet and still have a chance to hang on with the team.

Spanos was a good hire.

This is the type of move you see when a veteran HC is at the helm who knows the league and how valuable the assistants who can teach and mold players to scheme are.

Good riddance to Stan Hixon. I think he may have hindered the development of Thomas and Kelly, and certainly didn't make Randle El any better.

Steve Jackson is still being considered for coaching the safeties, after Landry's horrible play?

I'll be curious to see who comes in to coach the O-line.
