I'm glad we didn't panic and race out to sign a vet with a short future.

RK looked really good and Mack Brown also impressed. The young guys look promising.

The Bills rested 10 starters on defense. I was encouraged by how well our RBs stepped up, but I dont think this game is necessarily evidence that our RB corps is not a weak spot going forward. Lets not forget how good Redd and Seatrunk looked in the preseason.

And we had some key guys out on offense - right? Works both ways Eeyore :)

Who was out on offense? Jones and Crowder?

There will be plenty of guys like Pierre, Ridley and Hillman looking for jobs that we can choose from whenever we like. No rush.

In the meantime McLovin is going to let the young guys show us what they have.

We'll never know if RK is the next real RB otherwise.

Yeah. Lictensteiger looked awful. Hopefully it was just a bad night.

He got blown up quite a bit in the playoff game against GB, too.

Well, that's one of about five reasons why Leribeus is better. And I feel dirty just typing that, because I know it's not popular around here.

Judging by Gruden's comments, and reading into them just a little bit, it seems LeRib is the one who's on his way out, completely.
He was on the subject of Stork, and the "quality" of centers we already have.
He listed 3 of our pre-existing centers. Every single one of them......except for one.
Coincidence ? Or hidden meaning ?

“He’s going to have to come in and learn the system in a hurry and compete. We have a very good center in Kory Lichtensteiger. We love the progress of Spencer Long and Austin Reiter has done a good job so we feel good about the center position."

Lichtensteiger is not very good, he is serviceable at best at this point in his career.

It's preseason so you can't judge how good yet. I just look at if the basics are there and if at least that they don't suck.

Rushing stats of all Backs, through 3 Preaseason Games :

R Kelly is the clear leader in all 4 major areas : total yards, average per carry, TD's, and Longest Run
None of the RB's had any fumbles.
Marshall was last place.

Attempts - Total Yards - Average - TD - Longest Run

Kelly 22 - 99 - 4.5 - 1 - 18
Brown 20 - 78 - 3.9 - 0 - 15
Thompson 5 - 18 - 3.6 - 0 -13
Marshall 16 - 28 - 1.75 - 0 - 10

I think 4.0 should be about the Mason-Dixon line for RB1s. Last year; 32 RB's with 150+ carries seven were below 4.0 and five of them were below the halfway point in carries, about 200 totes.

NFL Stats: by Player Category

I know who I'd like to see in the skins backfield again....Darrel mother effin Young! No reason he couldn't truck some fools for say 10 plays a game...if not more.

Will the ginger GM do it?

After waiving Paea and Riley and bringing in Jenkins who is 35, I see the Redskins signing a veteran back who can help take some heat off Matt Jones.

Kelley picked up some preseason yards but we have seen this before with guys like Royster and Marcus Mason who flash a bit but are not projected as starting backs in the league.
