Who was the Redskins' biggest disappointment of 2015 ?

McD, I would rather not do this with you right now. I am loving the fact that Gruden stepped his game up big time and made what I consider to be some drastic improvements over last year and the beginning of this year - to the point that we're in the playoffs. I think that is awesome!

If you want to be the better fan because you knew all along Jay Gruden was going to be successful, good on you brother. Good on you. My point was simply that you are in a VERY small minority, I would venture to say you are probably the ONLY poster on this board who felt that way. So congrats, you're vindicated and were proven correct.

That doesn't make me less of a fan for looking at the 20 years of craptastic play on the field and dysfunction off it and wondering why this year was going to be any better.

I would say Keenan Robinson or Stephen Paea as the biggest disappointments. Robinson looked so good last year and this year struggled. Paea was supposed to be a good run stuffer at NT, but rarely heard anyone mention him.

Shanahan did it in one season.
I am not sure that's a good barometer...in 4 seasons here, he went 4th in the division 3 of the 4.

i expected Gruden to be a good coach I just didn't think we would make the playoffs yet alone win the division this year I was thinking realistically 5-7 wins as a fan I want them to dominate every season but that is not realistically possible but hopefully it will be possible

I think you're confusing two different things. I don't care if people flame wildly about anything they like--whether their views turn out to be correct or incorrect.

No one on this board was one of the losers that went to the Post to participate in an article stating they hope we lose every game this season right before opening day. "Hey Mom! I made the paper!" That is what was the most embarrassing thing of this season. That is something Philly fans would do.

3 days before McLovin's first game? Callahan's first season? Fewell's first season? That's how our fans welcome actual football minds to their new jobs?

Those guys didn't deserve to read that trash in the local paper. They can easily find jobs elsewhere in the NFL--no problem at all. We're damn lucky to have all three.

That was the most disappointing thing this season for what was once a classy and intelligent fan base.

Those fans are emotional, impatient and unrealistic.

How long do you think it takes to turn a dumpster fire around in the NFL? How long does it take for the team to learn a new offense? How long to stop all of the drama and change a losing culture? How long to go from worst to first in the division?

A few weeks? A few months?

I wasn't using that as a barometer. I was simply pointing out that all of those things are possible in a short period of time when accompanied with unexpected great play at quarterback that leads to on the field success. This year has been wonderful AND unexpected, but not something that has never happened before or is particularly rare.

Yeah would agree on Paea as well, maybe my expectations were high too, idk.

On the flip side id give a shout out to Chris Baker, dude had fantastic season. 53 tackles, 6 sacks and 3 ff's

Swaggy also picked up a additional $250k with that last sack in Dallas ;)

Hardy didn't even get a sniff at the two sacks he needed to get his additional $500k bonus

I'm most disappointed in the run game. I share some of McD5's and others feelings about Gruden, our qbs our new hires...There wasn't anything resembling a honeymoon period for anyone. Knee jerk reactions from week to week. It's not a big deal though, that's today's game. Win now or else...I had no idea if we had a franchise qb on the roster...but I did know if we didn't upgrade our OLine we would never know. I look at Andrew Luck as a prime example of a team that got their guy but didn't build a line to protect him. He's got all the tools but he takes too many hits and has to throw the ball while running for his life. Look at Rodgers he doesn't have the protection and his Wr's are getting open...Obviously there are exceptions to the rule

I was going to say Terrance Knighton mid-season but then it came out he was suffering from debilitating migraines.

I agree that Stephen Paea, Jeron Johnson, and Keenan Robinson get votes as well.

Paea signed a nice contract to be an impact starter and instead he was beaten out for playing time by Chris Baker and Ricky Jean Francois.

Baker was the team's best DL this season and no doubt is going to get a nice salary bump to keep him in the fold long-term.

Jeron Johnson was a complete bust. First, he was beaten out by Duke Ihenacho, who had previous starting experience in Denver. Then after Duke was hurt and went on IR, the team went through various starters in successive weeks finally settling for DeAngelo Hall in that spot.

Johnson never really appeared to earn Joe Barry's trust to get on the field and play regular snaps on defense.

I don't expect to see him back in 2016.

Finally, Keenan Robinson. It appears the team lost confidence in him after it took him longer than anticipated coming back from injury. In the meantime, Will Compton earned the starting job inside fair and square.

Compton is not impressive in terms of 'combine' numbers, all he does is make plays on the field.

In that regard he is like Sean Lee in Dallas. He's just a good football player and Gruden/Barry seem happy with him in the starting lineup.

Robinson is another player I don't expect to see back in 2016.

Morris, and Gallete I suppose. Thought we were getting a top tier pass rusher on the cheap.

Roberts I didn't expect anything from, he's been a bust from the start.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the "Elephant" (Hah see what I did there?! ;) ) in the room...RGIII. By far the biggest disappointment in decades for me as a fan.

And McD5...seriously you need to give the take and method of posting a rest. It just pisses people off. We have put people on breaks of late for behavior that does nothing to add to the conversation. I personally take offense to your line of logic in this particular area and I know many others do too. I bite my tongue, others don't and although you aren't technically breaking any term of service you are doing something that has become old hat for you...poke the bear. We all get how you feel, let it go. If I have to read another contentious exchange started by one of your passive aggressive potshot posts I swear my head is going to spin right off. Please just play nice, when you do your posts are top notch.

...RGIII.
I thought about it and actually typed out some stuff before hitting the F-it button.
Was even going to do the elephant in the room thingy too, decided to go with current affairs or nothing at all.

I do like how Griff has seemed to handle the situation tho. hope he goes somewhere out of the division and makes good.... assuming he's not the ace in the hole should Kirk's contract run amok.

Would you guys stop instigating? Don't poke the Elephant!

....Don't poke the Elephant!
Looks like some body did already

what is the ONLY criteria for a successful HC?

SUPERBOWL victories. real victories...not tag lines.

until then...the jury is still convened and deliberating.

So if Gruden wins a SuperBowl, does he get your undying support fan? Or are you still gonna address him as Grudung?

This is reverse psychology at this point. Don't mess with a good thing. The skeptic vibe is a foil to losing, let it happen. ;) We'll be bright eyed and bushy tailed when the run is done...I'm not jinxing anything by coming out all positive now. Plus if 2012 taught us anything it's that one season is not necessarily a turnaround that lasts. McLuvin absolutely changes that vibe but we're still only looking at less than a season's worth of actual success. It's not unreasonable for skeptics to remain so for now.
