Fowler
Chinn
Wagner
Dyami Brown
Mariota
BS-J....ust kidding
 
I think we're seeing the last games from Jon Allen in a Commanders uniform. He'll save almost $16m next year.
 
Possibly. To me, I don’t see him as the same type of ‘leader’ of the team as others but I have no idea how he is regarded within the locker room or by the coaches. His play has regressed over the years and it’s hard for me to imagine the team paying 2 tackles as much as Allen and Payne cost at their combined level of performance.
 
Allen is nowhere near the player he was from 2017-2021.

At 31, I don't see him fitting into the plans of Peters and Washington moving forward.

You don't give declining players on the wrong side of 30 large contract extensions.
 
This is going to be such a weird and awesome offseason.
For starters unlike in past seasons where we are in offseason mode by mid to late November here we are mid January and still playing, so instead of free agency and the draft taking forever to arrive they're gonna feel like there was no wait at all, I mean hell it's almost impossible to believe that free agency is a month and a half away.
Second, for the first time in forever we start our offseason with franchise quarterback already in hand and real hope of building a serious contender for next year with the right additions.

The miracle they were able to pull off in one offseason in which they were assembled mere weeks before the bullets started flying just imagine what they'll be able to do with a whole year to prepare a plan.
 
I would be surprise if they don't move on from BSJ. They have had over a year to work with him and he still can't cover without grabbing, now with his reputation it's just too dangerous to put him out there. Bates is supposed to be a blocking TE but he does not block all that well, he was exposed on a WR screen on Sunday. Blocking tight ends are easy to find.

Now Lucas, he has been invaluable to this team and criminally underappreciated. I'd love to see him back along with Chinn, Fowler and Wagner. I would love to see an upgrade at FS, this team does not get nearly enough turnovers and they need a playmaker back there.

This is something to consider. It's always dangerous to pay a guy who suddenly produces during their contract year. Maybe the light went off or maybe they are seeing dollar signs. Some revert to the mean after their contract year, some get downright unfocused and lazy, and some rocket to even better heights.

The good news is, I think Quinn, Kingsbury, and Peters will be better judges of people and so may navigate that guess better. But will Dyami revert to form or now that he has a QB and a winning team will he continue to produce? That, and not to be or not to be, is the question.

Agree with all of this. BSJ as a FA ain’t getting re-signed. I’ve been a little disappointed with Bates as well.

Lucas is a must sign for me, as is Wagner and Chinn. Bringing Fowler back makes sense unless they make a big move there (though I don’t think there’s much in FA).

I like Martin, and I have to assume he’s a pretty big reason we haven’t given up nearly the amount of big plays as last year, but… it seems like he’s never in a position to challenge for the ball in the air. Tyler Owens has that length/speed combo ala Sean Taylor that makes him intriguing for that role, but he hasn’t gotten on the field (beyond ST, where he’s excelled IMO) and I read that he prefers the SS position.

I think Dyami can be brought back pretty cheaply, and I think this staff has discovered a better way to use him than in the past - on wr screens, having him blocking on the perimeter, with the occasional deep and intermediate routes mixed in.

Crazy take here, but in some ways I like him better than Noah Brown, who I see as more well rounded, but isn’t special in any one area.
 
I love what Noah brought here but the guy has been injury prone in his career. Given what he has become, Dyami is a fine WR4 or WR5 and is good on teams.

Look at what Lucas has made the past few years. He is one of the best bargains in football. The Giants wish they had a guy like him.
 
As he can swing I have to believe Lucas is better than sime starting OTs around the league. I won't lie, Coleman's regression has me concerned and it would be really valuable to have Lucas back. But I can see where he may get an opportunity to get a better deal with an oportunity to win a starting job somewhere else.
 
I was not excited when we signed Mariotta but he’s proven to be the IDEAL backup to JD. Its a no brainer we will want him back but he might get sniffs from teams who want a bridge guy as a starter and money beyond what we will want to pay a backup. Maybe a longer contract and some guaranteed money might swing it.

Beyond that Chinn and Fowler are no brainers - but Fowler might be expensive and hard to get to signed. I would agree that Wagner should be brought back for his leadership if nothing else.

I would also bring back Ertz - he’s proven he is still a reliable security blanket and red zone threat. Lucas as well even if it’s as a swing OT backup.

Dyami Brown and Zaccheuas have done enough to get offers as well.

Finally Tres Way is a free agent. Can’t let him walk!!

I believe in dyami. he might not be able to elevate to #2 level, but I think he can grow to be a consistent contributor as a #3/#4. I think he can bring a blend of what Noah Brown and OZ is for us right now. before factoring external FAs, draft picks, and practice squad, this is the base I'd like to start our receiving corps off:
- Terry
- Dyami
- Luke
- Crowder (only 2 years older than Terry, so he has tread left and I want him for PR)

Lucas will be 34 next season and he’s shown he can’t hold up past a few games. He is what he is. Perhaps the best swing tackle in the league. Hope we get to benefit from it at least a couple more years

I like Noah and he is a better #4 today than Dyami but he is starting to get old and is injury prone. I think they may see him and Crowder as expendable. Remember Crowder was healthy for a while before he was activated.

Not a big OZ fan but he is probably back and he and Luke probably compete for the starting slot job

I’m guessing they’ll make a hard push at a starting WR in FA given the class’s depth

Yeah the guys we are discussing ar all WR 3 and 4's. They know they need another impact receiver and I too expect them to take a big swing in free agency.
