So for our American members, what've you got planned for your Thanksgiving 2024 feast?

Let us know! If you've got amazing side dishes, lets hear about those too. Recipe sharing is encouraged :chef:

Will be heading to my brother's house to celebrate with family. We will be having the standard Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, Mashed Taters, Stuffing, Greens, Cranberry Sauce, etc. etc. Trying not to fall asleep with the NFL on in the background, lol.

All of those plus crescent rolls and pumpkin pie.

Going to my son's house. Same menu also, except pumpkin cheesecake, instead of traditional and fixing hot artichoke/crab dip. I was told to bring something chocolate, but haven't decided on what that is going to be yet.

Used to spend days cooking for 16 to 18 people. Glad it is over but sometimes I miss it.

Tea for one...not sure yet.

Wife & I started going away by our selves since the rest of our family go to their respective in-laws. Last year we went to St. John & St. Thomas. This year we're headed to Hilton Head & Charleston. The plan right now is to cook local food - shrimp, scallops & oysters with some traditional Thanksgiving sides. First time to either place...

Oooh, that sounds awesome! You're gonna love it!

Immediately I thought oyster stew! Easy

In an effort to get ahead of the game and take advantage of the extra days, though in need of some rest & recovery, I don’t want to miss the opportunity to push through and grind out prior to the big day…

Yesterday I made my Key Lime pies and today the Deviled Eggs.

My goal is to leave it all on the kitchen floor. 😉

Chocolate mousse pie with Oreo crust, topped with fresh whip cream and shaved dark chocolate with a hint of cayenne

Everything! For the 2nd year in a row, our oldest son is hosting Thanksgiving dinner at his house. He'll smoke a couple birds, (it's a large gathering), and provide the beer, wine & whiskey. Everyone else will bring sides...Mrs. Skinsfan is making sweet potato casserole, 2 pumpkin & 1 apple pie. I will be sitting on my fat ass, eating and drinking some of the aforementioned whiskey and watching football. Last year was the first time that we didn't host Thanksgiving and I sincerely hope that he continues to do so in the future. No fuss, no muss, no clean-up for me. It's a huge relief because I get up the next day and hightail it up to PA for deer season.

Sounds like a great Thanksgiving  I am doing the turkey and the wife all the sides this year. I will pull it out of an overnight brine tonight, rub it down with some cajun style ghee this morning, stuff it with some cut onion and garlic cloves, aome orange, and poultry herbs and put it on the smoker for 4 hours or so. I also made some Tex-Mex dip to snack on the next couple of days. Just going to be my son, wife, and I, maybe the son's girlfriend.

This is my favorite meal of the year. I'm a big chicken fan so I also love turkey. Put that with mashed potatoes and gravy and everything else we will enjoy this fine day along with football and it's my favorite holiday.

I’m doing a traditional Thanksgiving meal but confess that the turkey is only because of tradition.

Turkey is my least favorite item on the menu and I like it better for sandwiches. I’d rather a nice steak for dinner.

I really like turkey and I sort of wish it was easier to find during other times of the year. Usually all I will see is tenderloin. I think a lot of folks find it kind of tasteless - but I like that about it because it's sort of a blank slate for marinades, injections, and rubs.

I get more than enough of the blank slate when I’m in Helsinki. 🤣

I admire all the alternative ways to cook a turkey. That's looking good Boone. I did the fried turkey thing and really liked it. But for me a good old roasted turkey basted appropriately is fantastic.

My favorite way is to spatchcock it and cook it brick style on the grill with a cast iron griddle plate on top with a 25 lb weight on top of that. It compresses it and cooks it from both sides. Comes out crispy and juicy and falling off the bone. I have never fried one - don't ask me why - just haven't gone there. This year, doing it traditional style (except for the pellet grill aspect).

I grew up on turkey cooked until it was like shoe leather in a standard oven. I kind of like it like that tbh.
