What Would You Like For The New Name Of This Team?

Anything that has the slightest of reference to native Americans to keep our heritage. Anything DC related alienates the fanbase outside of the area and destroys our rich tradition, IMO.

I was thinking using either percentages or multiply by 1,000. Depends how ethical Mark is ;)

I know this isn't a popular opinion (it wasn't where I brought it up the last time either) BUT... I have to say the name and brand first and foremost needs to speak to the local fanbase. D.C, Maryland, and Virginia.

I love and appreciate the fact that as the Washington Redskins we had a national fanbase largely due to our Native American branding. I would say it's highly unlikely any new name or brand has a direct link to any Native American imagery. There are subtle ways to connect to that past though, (your top 3 choices) and I hope that they do find a way that works for all our fans. With that said, the season ticket holders are in the DMV. The people who spend the most on merchandise are in the DMV. Getting the DMV fans on board must be the focal point of any name or brand. If the national fans choose to stay with us...awesome, but what the fan who lives in Oklahoma or Georgia thinks must be secondary to what will connect with most to the money spenders here at home.

Commanders is not a good name, but it is a name that does make some sense for where the team plays. I think it is fair to surmise the Washington Commanders name, and brand is liked more here locally in the DMV than it is nationally...even if marginally. I do think that matters. Part of our problem as well is that this team plays in the Nation's Capital. We are expected to set the tone politically and socially...and if the tone is currently moving society away from people as mascots...we are not going to go "backwards."
 
Haha - I'm not going to multiply anything - I'll send the data as is - from a hard-core WFT forum with hard core, mature, thoughtful fans who bleed burgundy and gold. :)

Not sure...Wolves or Warriors maybe? I want to somehow tie the Indian culture and our past into the new name and symbolism moving forward

Some of the suggestions on this board are complete joke.

Warthogs are dirty nasty assholes with an angry disposition

Obvious connection with our historics being able to be nicknamed the "Hogs."
Rename the Stadium "The Pigpen @ Northwest Stadium"
Revamp Major Tuddy to resemble a biker and have him ride a 'hog' into the stadium to lead the team on the field
Have flyovers from A-10 Warthogs before home games
Throwback uniforms can dawn our beloved historical logo and used on a limited basis, but still pays homage to historics
Colors make sense
Play this video at the start of the 4th quarter cuz it's funny

LOL. I like several of the potential names better, but yours is still a great post.

And yea, I would take that over Commanders.
 
I still think Washington Warpath should get serious consideration if the RedWolves weren't the final answer.

But who are we kidding, they're going to announce RedWolves this offseason and there is going to be some serious celebrations when it happens. The only reasons ever listed I've seen to NOT go with RedWolves were "trademark issues" and that's because Danny was too in debt, he couldn't afford to go that route.
