What Would You Like For The New Name Of This Team?

I would say Commanders is one. Titans seems kinda dumb to me. Bills seems silly. I would hope our new name is less goofy than any of these.

Redskins was the only good one

It would be cool if we could get into a florida state like monetary contract with a tribe like blackfeet. Logo comes back and we are the Blackfoot or something

Good luck in sorting this mess out into a poll! Here’s my two cents…

Seems like these are the most popular options:

Warriors

Wolves/redwolves/werewolves

Other Red______ names (red hawks, red tails, red hogs, red fins etc)

Burgundy and gold

WFT

Sentinels


Maybe there’s a couple more legitimate candidates I’m forgetting. For the purposes of the poll, maybe make the wolf names and the red names single categories so they don’t cannibalize each other in the voting. If one of them is the winner, we could do a second poll as to which version.

Sorry, I'm probably guilty of offering some not-so-serious name suggestions.

"Titans" seems generic, but it actually derives from Nashville's Parthenon, a replica of the original Parthenon in Greece. Titans are characters in Greek mythology.

I've stated before that I want a name that is directly, specifically related to the city of Washington, D.C., or the surrounding DMV. I really don't like when names are generic or unrelated to the city/region in which they are situated.

So, for me, "Lions" is not good because there are no lions in Detroit. It's just a generic name. Their baseball team, the Tigers, is just the same. It's unrelated to Detroit. "Pistons" is great because Detroit is The Motor City and pistons figure largely in the function of car motors.

Some form of "wolves" seems popular among many to replace "Commanders", but there are no wolves in the DMV. There used to be before they were eliminated by hunting, but they are no longer present.

So, I may be in the minority, but I want a name that is specifically D.C. and/or DMV.

So, I'm partial to names like "Presidents" or "Senators" or "Representatives" or "Founders".

Thanks for your input. I dunno. I'm thinking - do the poll straight up. Then after a week or so, it'll be clear which names are stupid and which are good. It won't be anybody's personal opinion, it'll be the opinion of the membership. Then do another poll, a new poll, a much smaller poll, using just the good names. And if necessary, do same a third time. The cream will rise to the top.

I've definitely offered some nonserious suggestions, but (with no offense intended) I view this as more of a fun exercise and not a serious conversation.

That whole thing was fake. And it’s the reason most of us hate commanders. They pretended like we would have a say, dragged it out like the reveal would be monumental, then gave us the name they had all along. It was one of the many failures of that group and all it really did was put fans into different corners on names that would never be chosen.

All kidding aside, I've been Red Wolves since day 1..Warriors would also make sense but would be hard with Golden State. So i think we're stuck with Commanders...and hopefully a better uni/logo can be found.
