I think you try and sign a tackle (probably RT who can also play guard), and then you draft someone who falls into your lap. Membou or Conerly would be good in that regard. If they come in and play at a high level at LT, great, slide Coleman inside. If not, let Coleman stay outside and slide new pick inside. If we pick later than the 1st for OT, then we probably slide them inside anyway.
For opening day, only 2 players are set, Coleman, somewhere between LT and LG, and Biadasz at C. Cosmi will come back eventually but obviously is not available right now. Adding a tackle in FA, then drafting one, can hopefully get us to 4 solid guys, and we can hopefully find a nice fill-in for Cosmi until he returns.
Insofar as DLine is concerned, that one is gonna take some doing. If I had to guess, we might be swapping Allen for Osa at DT, and I think Newton pleasantly surprises us. I'd still love to add a guy like Poona Ford who excels against the run, but if you're paying Osa and Payne, there's some limits we'll be up against.
Generally speaking our pass rush was good, not great, and our run D was poor. Obviously if we end up with Myles Garrett that answers a lot of questions, but the more I think about it, the more likely it is the 2nd round might be the sweet spot for an edge guy. First round might drop a great player to us, like Mike Green, but very decent chance it won't, in which case OL might be the play there. But there's a lot of depth at the top, there's probably 10ish dudes worthy of 1st or 2nd round picks, so odds are good one of them makes it to 61. Heck, some of them may make it to 79.
DT depth is also insane. I *could* see a DT in the first 3 rounds, but I could also see us grabbing a guy at 148 or later bc of the class depth, or maybe trading like a 2026 3rd to get a 4th round pick and snag someone who fell who we had a high grade on.
