What are you reading?

Happy hour starts in 5 minutes
I work at a school and wanted to read some of the books my ES kids were reading so that I could help them with thoughts and discussions, so I just read Frindle and Crossover. About to finish Because of Winn Dixie soon.

I also just picked up some used books that i want to start soon. First up is called "The Miko"

it is a murder mystery set in Japan, but also deals with mysticism and Asian dark arts, etc.

Wow, I’m jealous! Since I built the pollinator garden there have been so many bees that I never knew existed coming around. Sitting at my breakfast table, listen to my small pond run and watching pollinators is one of my favorite things to do.
 
I can be pretty seasonal about how I do/enjoy things, so I usually read through the LOTR trilogy in Oct/Nov/December. Since it's November, I'm currently halfway through the Two Towers. This is always a cozy reading time of year!

Outside of that, I recently completed Dan Brown's "Inferno." I've grown to really like his Robert Langdon series. They are such easy reads due to the quick pace and adventure!
 
the more i read these ambrose books,the more i,m convinced the ww2 generation of soldiers is the best ever genereation. of americans.what they did for our country and to just survive iin battle s remarkable.
 
I just received Good Energy- The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health by Dr. Casey Means and I’m looking forward to diving in.

I had to work to find reviews that weren’t framed by ad hominem attacks of her brother (and co-author) due to his personal politics. Even though it is a #1 New York Times Bestseller. 🤪

I will leave a review after I read it.

Recently read "Eruption" - written by James Patterson based on Michael Crichton's outline. I am a fan of both authors but was disappointed in this book. I found it muddled and the characters overly contrived. Such a disappointment because I can see a interesting story buried in there.

read a 30 page book about classical composers.johan bach had 25 kids.amazing.
 
Right now "The Testament" John Grisham. His books are fun, easy reads.

I love most of Crichton’s books, it’s a shame he was gone too soon. I used to really like Patterson’s novels but I question his work over the most recent years. He has co-authors on nearly every one so I question what the process even is now. Similar to Lee Child’s Reacher series.

Same. That co-author thing is disappointing. A few notable exceptions are the Stephen King/Peter Straub collaboration on "The Talisman" and Terry Pratchett/Neil Gaiman in "Good Omens" and Pratchett's collaboration with Stephen Baxter in "The Long Earth" series. With those, you can tell their work apart, but it's seamless....
 
Just finished Eric Larson's "The Demon of Unrest", about Fort Sumter and the buildup to the start of the war.

Two thumbs up(y) (y), if you are into history.

I'm on a steampunk jag right now..... Jim Butcher's "The Aeronaut's Windlass" and am listening to Terry Pratchett's "I Shall Wear Midnight" when I do cardio.
