Really? It bothers you that someone doesn't agree with your opinion? Because that is exactly what it is; your opinion. Am I required to value it?

As I've grown older I've developed a "force field" toward the media, an institution almost solely concerned with eyeballs and click-throughs. They major in controversy, real or manufactured, where the truth is often an unnecessary, if not unwanted commodity. Schefter is no different and if he wants to get down on his knees to ingratiate himself to Shanahan, good for him. That doesn't mean that what he reports deserves my attention.

Dan's 48 years old. RG3 is 23.
How many 48 year olds do you know that try to hang out with 23 year olds all the time? It's Friday night, I'd really like to go to the club. Let me call my 23 year old friend.
How about instead of that, maybe Dan could hang out with other, wealthy 48 year olds? How about other owners? Is that really asking too much? How about he hangs out with 40 year olds--why 23? Maybe because he's a 5'4 dork, trying to be cool?
He's admitted that his biggest mistake in his early years was in running the team as a fan, and not using business sense. He still doesn't get it. He's still doing it. Nothing good comes from this in the long run.

I have stayed out of this thread, but this is nuts. You are extrapolating THAT from Schefter's comments? Really? I suppose it's possible that Snyder is doing those things. I think it's also possible that Snyder listens attentively when Griffin talks, and Shanahan doesn't; therefore, Snyder is buddying up to Griff. And all THAT assumes that Shanahan is telling the 100% truth to Schefter who is in turn reporting it 100% accurately.
I know Snyder's history has been atrocious. But he also has stayed out of the limelight for quite a few years now. Until I hear that is changing on a consistent basis, I'm going to ignore a lot of this.

He said he's a homebody in his documentary. He's been pretty consistent about that.

Yes, OTHERS was emphasized. So who were these unnamed others? Immediately, I thought of the person who went to an offseason movie screening with RGIII, who went to an offseason Cafe Milano dinner with RGIII, who went to an offseason fundraiser with RGIII, who dined with RGIII in Richmond, who joked with RGIII at a luncheon, who was asked to dance at RGIII’s wedding.
Thom Loverro must have thought the same thing. He asked Schefter about the perception that RGIII and Daniel Snyder have a relationship.

A club? Maybe not. I do remember him flying Portis across the country to join him for the CMT awards?
Which is certainly weird considering the age difference, but would be better had he brought the entire team with him--to not give the perception that he has favorites.

Let's face it, the QB, when elite, is the FACE of the franchise. Personally, I would find it much more disturbing if Griff and Snyder didn't do some of those things together. Snyder is all about one thing: money. If he can increase marketing dollars by taking Griff to fundraisers and movie premiers, then he's gonna do it. I guess it's possible he's just a nerdy billionaire desperate for athletes' approval. But given his history, I tend to think it's about the money.
It was bad when he did this with Portis, because Portis was never gonna make him stupid money. Griffin (assuming health) is going to make an already filthy rich man even filthier rich. And vice-versa, really. So yeah, they're probably friends.

As long as he doesn't get his approval on draft picks or let him circumvent the coach (or worse, run him out of town) I don't really have a problem with it. It's weird, but that's just my opinion.

Couple of extremely intuitive observations.
1. Rich people, remain rich people, by associating as often as they can, with other rich people.
Money, transcends age. Get over it.

yes. he is.I repeat: Griffin is the best thing to happen to this franchise in 20 years. Let's all try to remember that.
but that doesn't change the reality that we are slowly seeing his entire character unfold. or, another way of looking at it, we are seeing him adapt as his role changes and as he responds to adversity.
whatever else, and not assigning any severity quotient, we are learning more about the young man than we knew a year ago.

that thought defies reality. everyone grows. everyone changes as they deal with the dynamics of life.
I have been a bigger homer for RGIII FROM DAY 1...than anyone else on this board. but I also have spent a lifetime watching and assessing people. as they mature and adapt - they change. that's just common sense. RGIII is not the same individual he was at the combine a little over a year ago. he is deeper into the business end of things, he is more experienced with the NFL, he has suffered a traumatic injury, he is married. his outlook, his responsibilities, his opportunities, his critics...they have all changed. By orders of magnitude he is much more exposed to the media than he was at Baylor. It's ridiculous to believe that someone as smart as Robert doesn't sit back, observe the changes in his environment and doesn't respond by adapting his strategies and methods. the bigger concern would be if he didn't. he is a young man...he is going to make some mistakes along the way - that is one of the glories of youth afterall.

don't know! are we focusing on the reality of what we have observed from this Summer forward? or are we wishing an alternate reality because it makes us feel good?
RGIII is the man. I have no problem with the draft pick costs and have no doubts about his future - well beyond football. I also have observed a few "fumbles" in terms of how he has handled the media. and it was well documented in the media - before he was drafted - that the system at Baylor was not set up like a traditional drop-back, read and progress NFL style offense. It was discussed before last year that he would need to develop that side of his skillset as he matured into a complete NFL QB. Others may have different recollections.
