It's hard to describe how let down I am by Red Dead Redemption 1. I knew the mechanics would be crude, but the writing is so completely different. RDR2 had some wacky moments, but it also felt a lot more down to earth. RDR1 so far has been giving me the choice to let a cannibal eat his victim, forced me to help a wretch who desecrates graves and the bodies inside them, and require me to return a horse to a person who is implied to love his horse in a very wrong way.
I am shocked that a prequel in RDR2 is night and day to RDR1 just in having characters that don't disgust me. I spent $40 and will play it to the end, but out of all the characters I've come across, there are only two that I feel even a slight attachment to like I had in RDR2.
