we tried to run. they stopped us. we then quickly fell behind.
running the ball is great and all but it doesn't automatically solve all the problems.
They didn't completely stop us. We were making progress. In the rain, a zone blocking run game can be used very effectively, very similar to the way a WR has a natural advantage over a defender. The D-Lineman will have a heck of a lot more trouble with gap control when he's not sure his feet will stay under him.... holes will open up, and a downhill, heavy runner like Morris should thrive in that scenario.
The problem is that the Steelers set out to shut down the run, and we let them... We should have run ourselves into a deficit if necessary. Run the football. That's our identity and we let it go.
The scary thing is, we STILL should have been in that football game, even letting our identity go, we still should have been in that game.
