TV Show Discussion Thread

In the last year, my favorite shows/series have been 11.22.63 (the show was amazing,. the book was one of the best I ever read), Dead To Me, Santa Clarita Diet, Castle Rock, 9-1-1, Looking For Alaska, In The Dark, and The Conners.

Anything else I just haven't seen yet, because I haven't watched anything I didn't like recently.

Does anyone even watch Vikings anymore? Curious if this season is worth a look or not

So I am getting around more, but still mostly immobile from the surgery. I probably have another 2 weeks of this, so I tried to start Mad Men again since I never watched it.

I can't get through the first couple of episodes. Those bangs on the new assistant drive me crazy, the story appears boring, and none of the characters really make me want to watch more.

It's a good show brother...gotta give it a chance. This is coming from a guy who watched the first 2 episodes of 'The Wire' three or four times declaring it 'boring'. Some shows take investment to payoff.

Have you watched 'Yellowstone'?

Just started 'You' on Netflix. Stalker city baby. Can you dig it?

Literally halfway through first episode - but he's a major stalker :)

Yes, Costner is real good in that show, but every time I see him I think about him ruining Cal Ripken's marriage.

I think that was just an internet rumor Brian. Costner and him were pretty close at one point, but I believe I've read that this was just some conspiracy theory.

It's not...I know it's fact. My former boss is a business partner of Cal's, their children used to play baseball together. He sold Cal's house for him.

On a side note, I was on a 2 day commercial shoot with Cal for work, he takes some time to warm up to you, but once he does...you're part of the family. I just left him be and stayed out of his way for most of the shoot. By day 2 in between takes for the commercial, we were sitting at home plate with Cal Ripken giving us batting lessons. What an awesome experience!

Nice! Sounds awesome. I'm just going by what I read on 'Snopes'. You may have better info :)

That's why they call you 'Elephant'... you've been waiting for that one :)

!!

I am so f'ing bored! One more week, and the doc will have me going to p/t. Gotta get right before the rush of the spring real estate market amps up. Last year my business increased by just under 40%. I am hoping for one more big jump like that and I will finally be getting right. It's been a tough 2 years dealing with the physical issues while trying to start a new business, as I watch everyone else get rich in this market...real estate market in my region, that is.

You're awesome. Wish I'd had the balls to strike out on my own decades ago. You'll get there brother. Heal up.

Thanks John. I have to admit, it was not my decision, but forced. When I initially ruptured the achilles, I got fired. Not laid off, fired.

That's when I made the decision to make him regret firing me. They literally have 3 people doing what I once did for that company with about the same volume running through the doors, and consistently get complaints about their photography.

OK, apparently there has been another spinoff of Breaking Bad.

For whatever reason, I just went through the entire series, again. And the same critique that I've always had, still holds true...it drags at times. However, watching it again has solidified it as a top 5 series in history.

With that said, it looks like Netflix is releasing an original movie today, Friday the 11th, called El Camino. It is the conclusion of the scene with Jesse driving away from the compound after WW freed him.

I had no idea.

Oh yeah, and I finally got around to watching the season premiere of the Walking Dead. What a terrible TV Show.

Yeah - can't wait to watch El Camino. What spinoff are you referring to (or were you talking about the Netflix movie)?

I was re-binge-watching Breaking Bad recently in order to get up to speed for this weekend when El Camino is released.

I actually found that although you're right, there are some points where it does drag a little (there are some filler episodes I could really do without!) on the whole the series actually moves a lot faster than I remember. I remember watching it originally week by week and it felt like a REALLY slow burn. But when binge watching I was surprised by how fast moments pop up. The 'I am the one who knocks!" line came up a lot sooner than I thought. The Jane/Jesse things wrapped up faster than I remember.

It is an epically good show though. I'm hard pressed to find much in it's orbit as a top show. (Though I'm partial to The Expanse and the rebooted BSG). I did think Westworld might reach those heights, but Season 2 was a let down for me. Game of Thrones started VERY strong, but faded down the stretch. Oddly the other show I feel has a sustained level of excellence that I enjoy, is 'Better Call Saul' the spin off from Breaking Bad. LOL

I assume 'Better Call Saul'.... which is AWESOME!

I think they could get away with yet another spinoff of that show...
with Mike Ermantrout.
His character is pretty badass.

I couldn't stand el camino. felt forced and Jesse is not a big enough character to carry an entire movie. They needed to do more with it.
