TV Chefs (or Cooks) - Favorite and Most Hated

I mean just about every wing rub is some combo of paprika, garlic powder, onion powder. cumin, black or white pepper, salt, possibly sugar… it’s not like it’s some ancient formula, lol…

Rachel Ray visited our tailgate for a Dallass game and was a little miffed because Pez wouldn't share his wing rub recipe. While she's somewhat annoying, she gets cool points for smacking the Dallass piñata at the aforementioned tailgate, with a baseball bat. There's a pic out there somewhere with one of the drunks staring at her ass
She's from my neck of the woods. I know people that grew up with her to people that dated her. She is a really good person but I don't find her cooking or her shows anything great.

Seen a lot of Flay around Saratoga and through his shows. At first I found him arrogant but has not come off that way to me after my initials. He is incredibly talented but we are just seeing too much of him on TV man.

Emeril is the one that got me into watching cooking shows just as it seems to have with so many others. What a great person and personality!

I get the Guy negativity but I did love the DD&D, at least until he decided to just go to any place that would serve him sloppy free food lol.

His show that is in its 6th season Tournament of Champions has been fun to watch. So many well known, not so well known and up-and-comers battling.

I wouldn't know because, with the exception of Old Bay or Lemon Pepper, I don't use rubs for wings. But if you are ever in the neighborhood of the ES tailgate when Pez is making wings, you will not believe how good they are. Some of the best that I've ever had....he also makes a big container of a spicy red sauce to go with them. I know it's just wings but, for whatever reason, they're insanely good.

I also enjoyed Jeff Smith but yeah, the pedophilia accusations make that a little harder.
The accusations came out well after I stopped watching the show. No idea if they were true or not, they settled out of court with no guilty verdict or something. I do not go back and re-visit the shows, but I still remember watching the show fondly when I was about 7-13 years old. It was the first cooking show I ever watched and really sparked my love to cook, and nothing can change that.

And although I know some think he's all self-hype, I do admire Bobby Flay... I first got exposed to him watching 'Hot off the grill' although I have to admit, I mostly watched because Jacqui Malouf his co-host was incredibly attractive.
Bobby can cook. That's what I like about him. And all of the iron chef's. They aren't just personalities, or at that point in their careers, business people. They can truly, if you pardon the phrase, throw down. I like my TV chef personalities who actually cook. That's one reason I don't care for Guy F. very much. Sure, he can cook, and occasionally does. But most of the time he's commenting on other people's food and screaming in my ear.

And I'm sorry - but if Rachel Ray wants your wing rub recipe, you give it to her. Good lord.
I have no idea what this is in reference to.

EDIT: I read a few more posts and figured it out. I only partially agree. If you're going to give a wing rub recipe to a person who could turn around and sell it, you should ask for something in return. What that is, eh, that's up to you.

He just oozed charisma. He could entertain an audience cooking a pot roast. That is hard to do.

I watched Emeril back in the day but honestly never got the impression he was a great cook.

All I’ve seen him on in recent years is infomercials shilling some convection oven which has probably reinforced that impression.

I've eaten at 3 of his restaurants, 2 in Vegas and one in New Orleans.

Assuming he has something to do with the food (and I'm going to go ahead and make that assumption), my guy can cook. REALLY good.

I'm not a huge fan. I just think what he did when he did it in the early days of food network was absolutely ground breaking. A nightly, live, prime time cooking show? By yourself? That's tough to pull off.

Bobby Flay can cook and is educated. I think his attitude has mellowed out with time

Guy Fieri? To be honest I've never really seen him cook. I think he is book smart to a degree. But alot of show.

Rachel Ray? Please

Giada? Ho hum...nice ummm? Lol

Anthony Bourdain absolutely hated the Food Network and all of the pretentious plastic chefs.
