any eyes and ears on TC today and the practice?

You know what drives most of the tension between Redskins fans? The fact that no one, ever, really knows what to expect with this franchise. We could win another 3 games, or the division and it's difficult to know in any given year which is more likely. That's the kind of annual situation I'd love to say goodbye to. If we could just field a super-solid, consistent, mistake-free team with great coaching and a minimum of controversy and drama each year, my God that would be a beautiful thing.

A guy can dream, can't he? :)

My dream is simple.... Don't ****ing embarrass me.

Hard to follow camp on twitter today. By all reports Skins are getting worked by the Pats. Brady slicing and dicing our defense (again).

edit- getting better now. Long drive by offense ends with td pass from Griffin to Moss in back of end zone.

Except for Jordan Reed. Reed continues to get heaped with praise from media attendees.

If that were true wouldn't our defense appeared as a dominant force last season? As I recall our defense had a spectacular preseason leading into week one...
it means a little something. If you aren't tuned in and playing like you should by week 3 you have issues...

or in our case....

REMEMBER OSAKA!

it was good in 2012
bad in the beginning of 2013
better at the end of 2013

it does mean a little something.

Okay, so I just got home from a miserable day at work. How did we look today? I don't even see a John Keim report yet. I did just find this:

@ESPNRadio980: Richard Crawford got beat and hurt on left knee ..walked with help off..." Did not look good.

I've just briefly read a few reports, confirming what most of us already seem to believe. Our offense is going to score a ton of points, and our receivers will be borderline unstoppable. Much better than yesterday.

The defense still seems to be weak. Hatcher's play will be key, but the other players can't just stand around and wait for him to do something.

Kerrigan, get your head out of your ass. Orakpo, forget the stupid commercials and get nasty. Someone, anyone step up and start delivering the hits from the safety position.

My largest concern is the Oline win or lose it doesn't matter who is Qb if he can't get protection.

Well, consider looking at it from this angle. We won the division with a lesser O-line than we have now, and with much less talented WRs than we have now.

To be fair, we also had a gimmicky offense that was new to the league, and we had a very healthy QB.

But we've already seen rock bottom. 3-13, embarrassing leaks every Sunday morning, the worst ST unit in NFL history was rock bottom. We aren't there. That's out of the question.

We're going to put up some points.

Cycleans, also keep in mind that the Packers won the SB with one of the worst O-lines in the league. Look at how many sacks they gave up compared to us last season.

How did they do it? With a great QB and great WRs. And no Alfred Morris.

This is also encouraging, from Gruden today:

Gruden: The O-line gave us ample protection, which was encouraging. #Redskins

Translation: I have Garçon on one side and Jackson on the other. I also have Jordan Reed, and this Ryan Grant looks like a steal. We also have a guy named Moss, and Alfred Morris will be toting the rock. I'm about ready to bust some ass.

An average coach can look great with that lineup.

Not true! They were not the greatest OL of all time, but they were definitely not one of the worst in the league the year they won the SB.

They gave up 38 sacks the year they won the Super Bowl.

We gave up 43 last season.

In 2012 when Baltimore won the SB? They also gave up 38 sacks.

The team Baltimore beat in the SB, San Fran? They gave up 41 sacks that season.

It's wild how people here believe that our pass protection is so terrible. When compared to the best teams in the league, it's not. Who started this nonsense?

Nothing could be further from the truth. That's a BGO myth we can now all throw away.

You can go to, or win the SB with pass protection not much worse than ours was last year.

Because we attend 7-8 games a year and see this all the time...

You sit there and suggest that our OL is remotely competent in pass pro, you ignore the facts! Our QB has had to run for his life in pass pro for 2 years now because he has no protection from the right side!

That's a Damn good front 7. They get to anyone

So do the QBs on the best teams. It's not like we have some terrible O-line.

Dude, when was the last time you saw a game live? I have been seen the OL of our team live 16 times in real games and another 4 in practices against other teams and pre-season games. Our offensive line is terrible!

Really? Then San Fran's is awful too.

They gave up 39 sacks last season, and went 12-4 in the toughest division in football.

Oh god, our o-line is awful! We're such victims! Our o-line is the worst!

Who started this nonsense?

Our pass protection has been terrible at times. Our run blocking has been superior at times. The sarcasm and exclamation marks from both you guys don't really add to the conversation btw. We'll see soon enough what kind of job the OL will do. The criticism of past protection failures isn't nonsense, but neither has our OL been the worst in the NFL either. You don't have a top rushing attack for multiple seasons with a 'terrible' OL.

All of us agreed that this will be a two or three year project - rebuilding the team does not happen with one draft and one round of FA. Couple that with having no first round selections the last couple years, it is not surprising to see a few holes here and there. I think the coaches and front office since January have done a good job. Patience is a tough virtue, but we need it. A lot of it.
