A really good D line vs a questionable at best Oline leaves a lot out there trying to figure which one is having the bigger effect. Chances are 25 teams dont have the dline we do so hopefully the oline doesnt look as bad during the season...

Derek and I had that exact conversation.

We need RT, LG, and A LOT of depth. I am not even sure that Charles is going to be a LT in the league if he can't even get on the field.

But, at this point, it would appear we are looking for depth.

Well they haven't seen anyone on the field in any real capacity til 4 days ago... so there really was no way to assess how these guys are going to fit their scheme. The only real film they have on anyone is Moses, Roullier, and Scherff. We drafted Charles (T) and Ismael (C/G), and added Cornelius Lucas (T), Jeremy Vujnovich (G), Wes Schweitzer (G) via free agency. We've clearly added more along the way that's been kind of quiet. This is our current O-line group. I THINK we brought Schwietzer in to start at LG as a bridge guy on a 3 year, $13.5 mil contract. Paying a guard $4+ mil apy to be a backup when you have that much backup quality depth isn't likely. I've seen some quiet whispers that Ismael could challenge to start but that was prior to camp opening... which could push for either C or LG. I haven't heard or seen anything over the last 3 days so who knows.

I would imagine, like Mike said, they are seeing a big hole on the left side of the line. Charles hasn't practiced yet and were 4 Sunday's away from a date with the Eagles. Moses is absolutely an option to upgrade, but I don't think we're going to find a starting caliber RT walking the streets that can be here for the long term. I think the hope is that he can hold up this season and we address the O-line in depth next offseason. It's been rumored that the cap could go down as much as $60 million if there are no fans int he stands, so there will be some cap casualties that nobody is expecting. We have a lot of money available, so it could be a prime opportunity for us to get some key pieces at a discounted rate.

Thanks for that amazing summary. I agree with you guys that the OL is not a finished product by any stretch and that there’s likely no substitute for seeing and assessing the players in live action face to face. I also think seeing them executing the scheme they are supposed to have been learning is also important. There may be a guy or two we didn’t think much of who thrive in the new system as well as guys who aren’t as good a fit in a new scheme.

Julie Donaldson just ended an Instagram Live with some dude..

She said that Alex Smith is not sure where he is going with all of this. he is testing his body to see if he can do it, he wants to, but if he cant he has not said he wouldn't accept back up role.

she said that the DL is scary good. she was talking about how solid and smart the LB corp is as well.

she touched on the hires of her and Jason due to skin/gender and said that they are extremely talented and deserve what they have. I agree.

She said the WRs are good, but very young. they need someone to help them along until probably around week 5 when they get used to it and mature in to the role.

she said Chase Young is a lot bigger than you realize, too. She said he just walks around and people are in awe of his presence. said he is a real prototype of what an NFL player looks like and more.

I hate being a hypocrite after complaining and being done with this team. but, this is the time of year where I get excited again.

Yeah i heard yesterday the report of "abundance of caution" and there was speculation he would sit today, with an off day tomorrow, we likely see him back on the field on Saturday. If he's held out Saturday, then there may be real cause for concern.

I said it before, these young hybrid WR/RBs we’ve added are going to be difference makers on offense in that much more unpredictable Turner offense.

I love that the D is going to be a bitch for our offense to look great against... the challenges the DL specifically are going to be for the offensecan only result in improvement down the road imho.
