What's interesting is I'm not sure he's the right style of running back for the Shanahan offense. That offense tends to like RBs who have good vision, can stretch a run to the sideline and then plant a foot and get up-field in a hurry. It's very similar to his dad's stretch-zone type of running game which has won multiple superbowls.

I wouldn't actually see BRob as a great fit in that offense, but eh, I would trust Kyle to know a RB who would fit his system more than me.

The other thing this tells me, however, is at least from a professionalism and person perspective, the team liked Robinson. Because I'm sure Peters still has good relationships with the folks in SF, and wants to keep them good, so he wouldn't lie to them and oversell BRob if it would be clear in 20 minutes that he was lying.
 
Bill is likely the guy to draft in your fantasy leagues. But CRods advanced stats over the past two years are excellent. Sure albeit in a small sample size of 86 carries, but its very impressive nonetheless. He may be the next David Montgomery. Quinn said he was the hammer.

If Bill fumbles away his opportunity... CRod is going to feast IMO. And may feast anyways. Same age as Bill...

Clearly means there were more teams in on Robinson than just the 49ers.

And the 49ers 11th in the waiver order, so they must have thought either a) another team could jump in and trade for BRob, or b) a team higher on the waiver list could claim him before he even got to them.

For a 6th round pick, eh, not a bad deal.

The bigger thing is they took on $3m of contract value. That's somewhat more surprising than the pick.

It makes sense.

Still, that means SF is picking up $2m for a backup RB we were going to cut if nobody traded for him. They clearly saw value and there must have been some other team or teams sniffing around.
