I've heard he has been struggling but this really sucks

Such an awful disease. I watched a special awhile back on his experiences after being diagnosed. Very tough, but no doubt a great man till the end. His wife Pat is an angel - he is lucky to have such a wonderful family around him, but I'm sure he had a lot to do with how close his family members are.

Ok. So sorry to hear about Marty. Last Wednesday I had a follow-up echogram. Now you may wonder why I'm putting this in a Redskins-elated topic. Well when I went back with the tech that was doing the echo, she looked at me
And said (mind you I had on a Redskins t-shirt).... she said "Is Chase a beast or what?. Seems she went to college with him and knows him. She said his work ethic is impressive and he wants to win. I just kindof chuckled at the encounter (unfortunately no improvement in heart function...still only 15-20% which really depresses me). HTTR and hugs to you all!!!!

Sandy, I was wondering about you last night so it's good to see you post! Yes - Chase is a 'beast' and we are happy to have him :)

Hey Doc, nice to see you! :D Hang in there! We need you for when Deshaun Watson lead us to the Superbowl next year!!!

I'm already a huge Chase fan. My feeling on where Washington are this off season, is that instead of pursuing FA's, we should plough all that extra Cap room money into Cloning Technology. I want a Chase Youngs everywhere.

Oh and a few Terry's for all my WR positions...

And surely we've got some spare Trent Williams DNA knocking around to create an offensive line (I'm fairly sure we could genetically splice his genes with Chase's to get the perfect OLine)

The Marty Schottenheimer new saddens me. I've been trying to cope the past year with my Dad being diagnosed with Alzheimers. It's truly torn our family apart in some ways, and with Covid, things are so much tougher. I utterly sympathize with his family. :(

We’re gonna need to make sure it’s Chase’s brain going into those Trent clones. The knucklehead gene is dominant.

Thanks, Boone. It's been a tough year.

Just to make it worse, he's also been diagnosed with Lung, back and prostate cancer, so the prognosis isn't great. Covid has made even visiting him difficult, which had put a lot of extra stress on my mum as she's having to cope without the usual support system.

But it's the Alzheimers that's really kicking our asses. It's like watching someone you know and love slowly disappear. It's a horrible disease. :(

this is the most brutal of diseases...it teases you with them remembering just to take it away and leave you with the shell of the person you've loved all your life.
I hope he passes in his sleep and knows who his family is one last time before he does.

It's okay, gang. I'm all good. He was diagnosed with the cancers last year, and for the first few months it really f**ked with our heads. It's not great now, but we've kind of got accustomed to it.
It's the cancer that has him on a clock (so to speak) and actually in some ways that's been the catalyst for the tougher part of the issue. He collapsed while out and about with my mum and was in hospital for a month. But due to Covid we weren't allowed to go see him in there. Which is REALLY difficult with the Alzheimers.
For instance, we'd talk to him on the phone about the procedure he was having and he'd tell us things like he hadn't had any yet. Or that he hadn't eaten. Or that he wanted to come home. He thought he'd only been in there for the day, and had little recollection of what was/had happened. Then you talk to the Ward Nurses and get a whole different story. It's a weird situation when you can't actually BE there.
The past year has been all about dealing with the legal side of things. Getting Power of Attourney etc.

As horrible as it sounds, I'm with you Mike on hoping he passes sooner rather than later and in his sleep, before he loses himself entirely. :(

I have a family member that is showing signs of this illness.
Can anyone suggest anything preventative, or to slow it down in any way ?
Perhaps even a natural herb or supplement ? Anything that will help, even a little.

Aricept is the most common medication for Alzheimers. First step is to get to a neurologist (if this hasn't been done already) and get your loved one diagnosed properly). There is a ton of clinical research being done on Alzheimers treatments. Here is a site that can match someone who's been diagnosed with a clinical trial that could help https://www.alz.org/alzheimers-dementia/research_progress/clinical-trials/trialmatch

Looks like he passed away, according to this it was 'peacefully' which is about as much as you can hope for.

after the way Dan Snyder treated Marty, I would not want ANYTHING from his family if I was related to Marty.

This... apparently... was the initial Washington Post headline this morning.

I just don’t get modern ‘journalism’. Zero class, no instinct towards moderation, balance, or fairness. They have since changed it but they should issue an apology for such a rude, crass action.

I saw this and I have my doubts regarding the validity of it.... It could be doctored.

If it's true, then the writer as well as the editor need to face discipline. I'm not gonna tell anyone who should be fired, but some sort of action to enforce that this is unacceptable across the landscape of the media...

You’re right. I’ll give it time for this to be confirmed...

It is legit. Post trying to backpedal. What an embarrassment that rag has turned into.
