I hope you hear something soon. Tom Petty was right, the waiting is the hardest part.

I found out the other day the position I applied for 9 months ago was funded, then unfunded, then funded, etc in a ever deepening spiral of cluster-****edness. (I'm not bitter at all about any of is). I was told by the Director of Training that I am the top candidate, but she has no idea when the position will actually be approved and they can move on it. Given my wife just got a job, I'm tempted to tell them to shove it.

In a nice, professional way, of course.

I dont know man, there have been plenty of jobs Ive landed well after the "reasonable: time period elapsed. I think its almost to be expected these days. My last 2 were 4 and 6 months each

Yeah. I'm in this weird situation where it's an acquaintance and he said he was going to check on flights and then never emailed me back.

So I don't want to come off as some weirdo and start emailing him a bunch. Just wish he'd respond, even if it's not going to work out. I'm impulsive. I've already picked out our house and new car and am working on a boat ;)
 
the number of people that feel comfortable constantly going against policies/rules/procedures drafted by departments when they have no expertise in the subject matter is just astounding to me.

i would never dream of telling an account how to do their job or baulk at policies that come out of their department.

whatever, mr vp, you knew better and have now created a problem. what are the odds you'll now fix it, mr know it all?
 
I like how certain people feel that because they've paid you to do work you somehow owe them something more than what they pay you for - like if it wasn't for them you'd be lost.

Customer is mad no one will be available this weekend to do something. We're not a 24/7 shop, and you don't pay us to be one. The fact that you pay us to be a business hours, monday-friday shop does not mean we owe you 24/7 service. Appreciate all the business you brought us, but that doesn't change anything. Would you like to pay us to be a 24/7 shop? We'd gladly do it, but you can't afford it and you know it.

When I left my last job the guy running the company acted like I was somehow in debt to him with my life, or that he was doing me some favor, because he gave me a job 4 years earlier; an underpaying job at that. I don't owe you a damn thing...
 
Found out I'm heading to Shanghai to lead a workshop on some things I've developed. I am very honored and pleased, especially since we are aiming for a family trip to Hong kong to train with our Great Grand Master in the spring.

Holy crap is it a bunch of hoops to get a freaking passport and visa though.

I hate people. I HATE PEOPLE. Just had an 11 day photo shoot cancel because they are "too busy". So that puts my people out of work for 11 days? ****! Doesn't matter, I know. Instead, my folks will fill in when possible on different locations. And I'm sure you all would have been fine if I called you and said, "yeah, we're not gonna be there when we said we were because of a scheduling conflict", right? RIGHT?

How big was the church? We could do school with around 600 kids in one day with 3 or 4 stations. That alone is a big congregation...11 days? That must be a huge congregation!
 
Nope, different setup. One camera, three selling stations, photographing 30/day. One of the bigger churches in my rural area but not super big by most standards.
 
Can we all agree that Friday morning conference calls followed by webinars suck and should be outlawed?
 
I've been up until 1, 2, 3am doing updates for the last 2 weeks. In addition to working my regular 8 hour day shift. I've probalby put in 60 hours a week the last two weeks. I don't get paid overtime.

I'm exhausted.
 
Another day at the office. Got a call 9pm on Thursday to fly to Newport RI Friday AM to take the bosses Other 80 footer to Annapolis. Good news is I may make it to the game monday night! That's Block Island to starboard. 400 miles to go. Peace out.

I was turned down for the internal role, but moving to the next phase in the interview process for the big one that I wanted more anyway.

Panel interviews (4th round of interviews for me thus far)

Wrapped up the 4th interview with first layer VP's yesterday. If they liked me then its one more with one of the partners as the last stagegate.

No matter what, to have made it this far in the process with a prestigious firm and for a high level role that hundreds have sought after, I'm feeling pretty good about myself.

Its nice to be seen as valuable (and I cant always say I feel the same at my current employer)


Please say an extra prayer for me!
