Here's his latest gem!

"When you only are officiating 16 games a year, plus the playoff games, it doesn't warrant full-time officials."

He uttered this when discussing the ref's being locked out and replacement refs coming in to officiate games.

If that's his way of thinking, it could also be said, from my point of view, about the players. 4 pre-season games (2 of which are really only to weed out those not good enough to male the final roster), 16 regular season games, plus play-offs. For some, that equates to 20 weeks. Why, on Jerrah's reckoning, should players be full time and not the refs? Some players don't even play more than 25 - 30 minutes a game.

On the other hand, Australian Rules players have a 4 week pre-season, followed by a 23 game regular season, with 4 weeks of finals (playoffs). They are all full time, but get paid no more than $600,000 (that's for the elite) for the year. Some players play 80+ minutes per game.
