The truth is that Daniels has made everything about Commanders cool.

I see Daniels #5 jerseys all over the place - young kids at airport, beaches, etc.

I see a lot more ‘W’ caps among adults as well.

Reminds me of my family in NY following the Islanders in the 1980’s and their gear was all over but was it God ugly logo and colors.

Winning cancels out all the other ‘is it pretty’ stuff.

The reality is the longer they go without changing anything the less people are going to complain… especially if they win a Super Bowl in the next few years.

Another connection is too good. In Q4 of 2021, when Washington internally selected the name Commanders, the Commander-in-Chief got a new German Shepherd and named him Commander. That is too good of a connection to pass up, no matter the politics.

About that, Commander couldn’t stay at the White House because he kept biting people.

Anyway, I do like the dog tags, but I’m not as much a fan of the other K9 stuff.

Having served over a decade as an active duty Infantry Marine, I don't get the attempt to tie the two things together. It's a stretch. But to each his own.

No. I am using the Commanders' W. I would lose any protection. Besides, I show all my designs directly to Senior people in the Commanders front office. So if my design comes official, I would be happy for that than complain about getting paid for it.

There ARE local connections to Commanders and the K9 German Shepherd. And I am not referring to the program Commanders do where they foster a dog for a veteran to adopt. Doc Walker has been doing his radio show and (the same time I have campaigned ExpandtheBrand apparently) he has called all of his listeners K9s. So the dog brings in legends.

FYI, K9s are not ordinary dogs. Dogs are pets. K9s are like our players: they are professionals.

You seem super well-intentioned but what you’re describing sounds more like minor trivia. Nobody cares about those sorts of parallels and they don’t create or justify any real connection between the name and K9’s. I would go so far as to say they’re closer to coincidences.

I'm probably the only one here, but when I hear K-9 my first thought are those old Doctor Who episodes lol

Well like I said, the soldier dog tag is the primary intent of my campaign. If it succeeds, then the term "dog tag" will get used A LOT in the org and fanbase. The more we say dog tag, the more we think dog. A Commander's dog; AKA a K9. Most likely, maybe a few years after adapting the dog tag to the brand, they will add the K9 dog as the secondary mascot.

If anything my #ExpandtheBrand is a 2-phase campaign. lol

Besides, there are fewer parallels between Commanders and dog tag but people got on board for it pretty quickly. No dog tag use in DC. No dog tag use by past players or in the org.
Seems it's more of a preference than a need for connections. I'll take whatever I get.

I don't like the W and I don't like the new color scheme.

Harris and co, while they said they weren't changing the name, did suggest that they would redesign the look/feel of the uniforms as a nod to the history of the franchise. I hope they can come up with something better than the W. Even if they went back to the number on the side of the helmet, that would be a huge improvement.

One thing that I can say is if the team waits and the Commanders win a Super Bowl, the superstition regarding the uniforms and logo will be too much for the owner to just up and change it all the next offseason :D

That’s for sure. All it took was a playoff run to be stuck with the name permanently. And for that same reason, I’m pretty sure the W is already here to stay as well. All this talk of a new logo is only going to be for alternate uniforms they may wear once or twice a year.

Is an AI that is controlled and constrained by the biases and opinions of its corporate providers truly “intelligent”? Or is it just a tool? And if I’m not very intelligent myself, would I even know the difference? Perhaps I’m the tool, and the AI has already quietly taken over. These are the kind of deep thoughts that keep me up at night.

AI is dependent on data sets that make up the 'universe' of information that is accumulated and synthesized.

That's why some AI models get certain dates wrong or misspells certain names.

100%. Love this comment  .

It's grown on me.

I obviously hated it at first, because it wasn't the Redskin logo.

But you know what? The colors pop. It really looks great on a t-shirt, sweatshirt, hat, etc. The sticker on my back window jumps out at you. Even my son has a sheet set (my wife won't let us get them for our bed, lol), and they look great!

There are plenty of "letter" logos out there, that no one complains about. Rather, they think of them as "iconic". Well, they all had to start somewhere.

Putting a "G" or an "SF" in an oval isn't groundbreaking. At least our logo TRIES to give a military spin to the Commanders name.
