How was Coleman's run blocking? Not just PFF - I trust fans here opinions more TBH.
Exactly how I feel. If they really can stop the run, and with obvious improvments at corner, I see this defense as improved but still not good enough. Yet.Offensively we should be better, because of Tunsil, Deebo and JD with another year with KK. Seems like the games we lost we were kicking FGs that should have been TDs. I think we're better.
Defense, not sure where the sacks will come from, but we should be very stout against the run and our secondary should be a strength, as opposed to a glaring weakness like we began last season. Luvu and Wagner together again should also help.
Not sure if our record is as good, but I think we're a better team this year.
If Coleman can be an upgrade over Allegretti that is enticing to have a dominant left side. I'm concerned about the backup swing tackle role. Scott sucks and everyone knows we will miss Lucas. So Herbig at RG? That should work.
That's a very good left side.
Herbig, Wylie and Bates is serviceable at worst.
Coleman is still the back up swing tackle. When Tunsil goes down, we just go right back to the left side we had last year, which wasn't bad. We have 3 starter level OTs, although Wylie at LT is scary, but he'd be LT3 and we'd be screwed by then anyway. If Coleman can be an upgrade over Allegretti that is enticing to have a dominant left side. Our OL depth is fantastic and I'm sure we'll draft an IOL at some point.
I'm just saying our OL seems deep, so there's no reason to worry. Coleman at LT and Alegretti at LG isn't a big jump of a shuffle. That's what I got as well. But teams have said for years they don't want to resuffle their OL over one injury.
I think this is a pretty important improvement. Our o-line played pretty well the first half of the year, but O-linemen get hurt. When they played hurt or had to sit out because of injuries, we really only had Lucas as an NFL caliber replacement. So, our o-line that that started out playing above their heads wound up underwater.I'm just saying our OL seems deep, so there's no reason to worry. Having good backups will help a lot either as spot starters or maybe even in rotation. I never really saw a team rotate their tackles, but it really seemed to work pretty well with Coleman/Lucas.
I will edit my post, I meant Scott sucks. Paul was fine as a backup OG.Coleman will either move inside to G or be the RT. Trent Scott is the current swing tackle. Chris Paul is a guard.
Agreed, in my sanctified imagination, I'm seeing Coleman at RT with Wile E. as swingI will edit my post, I meant Scott sucks. Paul was fine as a backup OG.
But I still believe teams do not want to change out 2 spots to cover one injury, they have said in the past they never want to do that and I can see why. Having Colemen spending all of his time at OG and then moving him to OT and moving in someone else in at guard is asking for problems with continuity and it's not fair to Coleman as he will be at a disadvantage when moving to OT after spending the season at OG.
I feel good about the contribution of Sainristill and Coleman, but I hear you on Sinnott and McCaffrey. I'd love McCaffrey to have his role expanded beyond special teams this year and for Sinnott to have a learned a hole lot watching Ertz about how to work the zones, run routes, and do everything he wasn't doing enough of last year.It sure would be nice to see those 2024 high draft picks emerge on the field in 2025 now that they have had a taste.
Guys got on the field and I think worked hard but we really didn’t have any picks other than Daniels blow up.
I noticed you missed Newton. Which is understandable because he was not very visible. I watched him a lot as I loved this pick and was down on Jon Allen. I just do not understand the love, on virtually every passing down he was stood up at the LOS and got zero penetration. I expect that a lot from the entire DL this season unfortunately.I feel good about the contribution of Sainristill and Coleman, but I hear you on Sinnott and McCaffrey. I love that you continue to remind everyone there is a G named Paul! He could show up as the forgotten man.Coleman will either move inside to G or be the RT. Trent Scott is the current swing tackle. Chris Paul is a guard.
I figure Coleman will get an early shot in camp at RT barring a RT being taken in the 1st or 2nd round (will depend on how the draft falls). If that occurs he is being moved inside where he should be top notch.I still think they’re going to try Coleman at RT before moving him inside.
I haven’t heard Bram speculate on him moving to LG.
They might end up doing that: but I think they’ll try him at tackle first and see if he can displace Wylie.
Also, they got Wylie to take a pay cut. Which means they would have cut him if he hadn’t agreed. Which means I doubt they see him as the ideal starting RT.
Shrug. I dunno what they will do but I’d be shocked if they didn’t start out by trying Coleman at RT and really hoping he wins that job.
