I think another way to get Maryland on board would be to move the team HQ to Landover on the land the team already owns.

Put the stadium back at RFK, Headquarter the team in Landover. Let them anchor a new business district there and then hold training camp in Virginia every year.

I said this a while back on another forum. I believe part of the problem the team has had is they are too decentralized.

I think it was Galdi, but maybe somebody else (possible Michael Phillips from Richmond) who brought up the deal the team has with (I think) Draft Kings (or some other gambling outfit) is only good as long as the HQ is in VA. I’m not an expert on this, but I believe the source.

Does that matter? I dunno. But it probably adds a layer of complexity to moving HQ out of VA. Not that it can’t happen. But just makes it more complicated.

Chances are, if the Draft Kings thing was a deal made under Snyder a better deal can be made. Still, it's a good point. We don't necessarily want to break or buy our way out of a contract. Any idea when it expires. There's also the possibility that Draft Kings would be willing to waive that clause if they believe being associated with Washington and Daniels is more lucrative. I'm sure they are aware that right now, Daniels is the top jersey seller and I'm sure they like being a part of that vibe more than half empty stadiums and the Rivera skins.

Bowser was on John Keim's podcast and favored a dome stadium for the DC stadium.

Kind of mixed on this as part of football's aura is playing in the cold. Playing in temperature controlled 70 degree weather sucks. That said big picture wise it would help DC bids for Super Bowls and Final Fours. And the stadium isn't going to be used for just 8 weeks anymore, teams are thinking year round uses for stadiums now.

I really hope they don't put it in Landover. There's nothing there

I don’t really have a dog in the fight because I rarely travel to home games, preferring to visit great away cities instead. When I do come to a home game, the highlight of the travel to and from on the Metro is passing RFK.

That said here is my completely inconsequential opinion and ranking of possible sites:

1. RFK
2. Oxon Farms
3. Landover

Last- any stadium in what used to be bumfuck Virginia that is now the highly populated suburbs like Dumfries, Woodbridge, etc. I would stay downtown for any trip to the city and never rent a car but even with easy Metro ingress and egress those locations wouldn’t make my toes tingle.

It has to be in DC. National Harbor would be the next best location but there is no metro access there. Woodbridge ish area would be absurd and absolutely terrible and thats coming from someone who lives in Chantilly lolol

My issue with Maryland is that it’s not where the bulk of this fanbase lives now. Why make fans in DC and Virginia (where the vast majority of locals live) truck out to Maryland for games, especially if you are going to keep the stadium in a place like Landover (every bit as bumfuck as anywhere in Virginia? We have had 50+ years of DC and Maryland stadiums and at some point they need to throw Virginia and NC fans a bone.

Ultimately they’ll do what makes sense financially so I’m not gonna get myself in a twist over it.

I will preface this by saying where the majority of the fanbase resides, as relevant as that is, is of little concern to me. Selfish? Absolutely. But I already stated that my opinion is not of value on the topic. 🙂

The major factor to me is ease of my travel experience. At least Landover is inside the Beltway and accessible via Metro.

Another random stadium thought-

Does anyone think that when Josh Harris, Mitch Rales, and Mark Ein tuck themselves into bed each night in their Redskin pj’s (with the footies) and travel off to sleep…that they dream about the revival of the the team of their formative youth and that they envision Dumfries?
