The Stadium Thread

“IF” I was in ownership and had a say there would be a 0% chance of returning to D.C. The Bowser can eat a satchel of shit.

I think it’s more of an argument for when it is in your back yard as opposed to someone else’s back yard. 🤪

I certainly wouldn’t want a stadium or an arena in mine.

Henry would absolutely love this idea :)

It’s a double edged sword. We all want new ownership and new owners probably won’t know or care about Bowser’s past shenanigans with the team. I live out of the area and my family gave up their season tickets. But I’d rather have a new owner who puts the stadium wherever they want over keeping current one who is likely to stick it to Bowser.

A new owner would have a blank check with this franchise because we all are so beyond over Dan Snyder. If there was a new owner and they dropped it out here in Loudoun County, I bet you it would be such a resurgence of ticket sales as fans came flocking back to the team.

Springfield Mall ... God.

That's about ten minutes from my house. The beltway at the interchange is awful enough as it is. I can't imagine Stadium traffic on top of that. Frankly, it would be just as bad at the Harbor, which is, obviously, right off the bridge.

RFK sounds great to me. :D

I've never heard Springfield area mentioned before, so you're probably safe Henry :) I think it's probably a lot more technically difficult and expensive building a new stadium in an already developed urban area vs. some more rural area that's yet to be developed. I'm sure that was the case with Fedex Field. Wonder if that factors into the decision at all or if it's all location, location, location?

Fact is, traffic is going to be an issue no matter where the stadium ends up.

2021 Top 10 Cities with Worst Traffic in the U.S.
  • Houston, TX.
  • Los Angeles, CA and San Francisco, CA (tied) ...
  • Washington, D.C. ...
  • Dallas, TX. ...
  • Chicago, IL. ...
  • Atlanta, GA and Philadelphia, PA (tied) ...
  • Detroit, MI. ...
  • Seattle, WA. ...
Gonna come down to the local politics, just like it did when JKC tried to build himself a memorial back in 1994.

As to the future Command(er) Center ... when it IS built they're going to want to make sure it's never NOT on one of these lists:

Pretty sure this is what Dan watches when he's not watching ... in-house promotional material outtakes.

Does that sound like a usual stadium deal? I freely admit there’s no clue on my part, just wondering how much $ the team and the city/state usually divvy at % wise.

I would guess that most, if not all, of that would be targeted for land, infrastructure, and future tax breaks.

What's worse than building in Loudoun County?

Rebuilding at Fedex..

$1 Billion?

That's a joke right?

The team (and the fans, if we are honest) wants a world-class facility that could be used to host the Super Bowl. The current top 5 most expensive stadiums in the NFL average $2.416 billion and that is with 2 of them already well over a decade old. Cowboys stadium is the cheapest at $1.48 but would likely be second on this list, behind only LA's SoFi, if it were built today.

I don’t see it happening

... which circles back to what I still think will be the real determining factor where the new stadium ends up. It'll have to have space and access to enough surrounding commercial potential for hotels, bars, shopping, etc. It's not just a stadium any more, it's Commercial Center or nothing. Just the way the NFL has evolved.

My PL team has a brewery IN the stadium. Just saying...

Oh...and it's owned by Robert Plant's son.
