The Peyton Manning discussion

I can't tell a damn thing from that video - sorry BB (the one long pass I could kind of see didn't look to have much velocity on it). Color me skeptical he's anywhere near 100%.

One thing about the Manning situation with Indy - the timing of it could really help us. If the Colts do decide to part ways with Manning, that puts the Rams in a dicey situation where they have great incentive to get the best deal they can done for the 2nd pick possible and quickly, before the Browns, Skins, or Dolphins decide rolling the dice for RGIII is too risky, and grab Manning.
 
Yes Boone, and then Indy could do us another favor by taking RG3 with the first pick in the draft after we make the trade with the Rams! :betterwink:

Oh! I agree, that ball did not look to have much zip. At least that was my impression.
 
Are we watching the same video? The first pass looked GREAT to me, nice velocity, good zip, etc. The second pass on the out pattern looked a little shaky, but better than most.

I thought the guy looked good.

I'm not impressed - not saying he looks terrible. But Manning's MO is throwing with mustard. Not seeing the mustard. And having had a nerve demyelinate and have to regenerate it's myelin sheath, I know it takes a long time for muscles to recover (and they are never as strong as they were before no matter how hard you 'work' because the innervation simply isn't there).

Time will tell. I just don't foresee him having the same arm - ever.

You guys need to pay more attention to this man, on this subject. He has many years in the medical field. :)

Besides, Peyton was throwing at Duke. Do you realize how easy it is to throw at Duke's defense ?? Duke's defense is just a notch above Pee Wee football :)

how does one tell zip on a ball from a video? unless it's a real ugly floater....seems to me you have to be there and actually see the timing involved with all parties involved. just askin.
 
A lot of everything said above in this thread was said about Drew Brees. The rest, well I tend to agree with whoever said Arizona or Miami will be very happy. Just say no.

I can't even tell that's Peyton Manning, outside of the blue & white #18 on the jersey. Why is he throwing in North Carolina? Strange.

His treatment/rehab is taking place at Duke Medical.

The only thing I know is that a lot of info was leaked from someone down there in recent weeks and then this video surfaces of him throwing on Friday. Someone that is close to Manning? One of Manning's PR people? I'm guessing that this is someone who fills both shoes. That vid was not released by accident.
 
I am absolutely with Boone on this one-his medical knowledge and experience makes his judgement the one I'd give credence to in this case. I'd be leery of claims of Peyton's return to form based on it.
 
Well, I am no doubt biased by my own experience. My nerves that innervate my right arm did recover and none of you guys would be able to tell I ever had a problem. But I can tell. My right deltoid is 2/3rds the size/strength of my left and no amount of working out will improve it. In fact the permanent damage I experienced also impacted the innervation to my diaphragm, to the extent that I can't run at more than a jog now (used to be a marathoner). But everyone is different. It's possible Manning will recover enough strength that there won't be a perceptible difference in the velocity he can put on throws. I'm just skeptical. I hope he does look like the old Manning and has another 3 great years somewhere.

I just saw someone post that Peyton Manning has been released by the Colts.

Edit: Looking at ESPN now and they are talking about a Wednesday announcement.
 
He can sign anywhere he wants the moment he's released.
 
ESPN just announced he's being released tomorrow, to the surprise of nobody.

edit: damn you guys are fast :laugh:
 
This is good news for the Redskins as it puts pressure on the Rams to move that pick if they intend to :co_obvious:
