The Pet Thread

Not a veteran dog owner, but I've heard of the "growing into their skin" thing before. I think you're exactly right about the skin growing first. The looser the skin, the bigger your pup will be.

Yeah it was weird, just had this saggy skin all of a sudden while gaining weight. If that is an indication this dog is gonna be more massive than I originally thought. Try to get a pic or 2 to show you guys what I'm talking about.

Could be a number of things. How old is he?

He's 6 months old as of yesterday. The vet said Bernards grow like crazy for their first 18 months then settle out. So yeah 1/3 done and around 80 lbs, lol.

He is just growing! He will fill out that extra skin LOL and yes he will be massive. St Brenards are one of my dad's favorite breeds but we never had one as the SC weather is not good for them.

Reminded me of the "Teddy the Asshole Cat" video:

I use this site to check for recalls and there is a link to a pet food review site. I have 3 finicky cats, so sometimes I have to change foods (I feed dry). The cost of the review site is $18 per year and I think it's worth it.

Watched Cujo last night with my dog, could be his lineage in films!

Jeebus, looks like a cross between cousin it and a demon in that first pic.

That's out of control. The one with the giant fro would be a lot of maintenance and waaaaay too much shedding on the furniture.

The 2 with their owners in the pics with them would be pretty cool. Can't say I've ever heard of that breed either.

Mastiff's are supposed to be some of the most loyal dogs out there. Great guard dogs too.

This is the breed I want... Kangal. You can have all that hair Mike...

My dog is an Anatolian Shepherd mix which is a distant cousin of this monster. Great breed. The Kangals are very tightly regulated by the Turks so they can keep the breed pure. Last I read, you cannot legally export them out of Turkey.

You could put a saddle on a Kangal and let your little one ride him around the yard El. Hell maybe even you too.

No thanks on the Kangal. I don't want to see that much junk on my dog.

I don't want that sleeping by me, or touching me lol.

That sucks...hope you can find one that doesn't upset your pet too much if at all.

Here's a few took a little bit ago trying to show how loose his skin is. His collar is blocking it but it raises like 8" up.

Chachi update: He'll be 7 months old Monday and is 85lbs now. Pics coming as soon as I can figure out why the hell yahoo email won't let me save them to desktop. Maybe need to go over to the 'ask tshile' thread?
