The Name Change Thread

Rales doubled down on not going back... but again, it looks like it's absolutely an option to change

I’m not a fan of Hogs mainly because it was a nickname for the OL - and a very specific OL in our history. Using it as a moniker for the entire team has never made much sense to me. And ‘District’ is a non-starter because it’s not just a DC team (‘Washington’ describes the DC Metro area even if it is the name of the city).

But whatever the fan favorite is, I’ll happily live with.

Yeah, I think the 'District' thing is not my choice either...

In the article, he did point out that 'Hogs' could work for Washington or District.

Warthogs is still my top seed with 'Hogs' being available as a nickname
 
Let's call them the sweathogs. We can have Ron grow a big Afro and mustache and we can now have a group of women dress up like 70s slackers and still use the nickname Hogs
 
Put me down as a strong NO on anything with Hogs. Maybe it's a generational thing, but they just seem way too contrived to me, and, well, kinda childish.

And get off my lawn.

I agree with almost everything he says here. The time to discuss the name change is after the season. I want to get away from commanders for a variety of reasons and it sounds like they are interested in it. As much as I would love the Redskins to return, I know it won't and he makes that clear. The one thing he said that I don't like is when he seemed to refer to the name as divisive. Maybe that's not what he means, but I don't think that is a fan based comment, stealing a term from the last line in that tweet. I preferred the approach it seemed they initially took, which was to refer to the Redskins when talking about the past and the commanders as current. I think that will be the best solution moving forward to bridge the gap between the old fans and the new fans they say they are going after. But saying the name Redskins is part of the divisive culture isn't helping bridge that gap.
 
Galdi spent some time this morning on Josh Harris declining the use ‘the C word’ at Quinn’s introductory presser. He’s the only media guy I’ve heard reference that since I pointed it out immediately after the event.

I think Al may be a Blind Pig subscriber :cheers:
 
It's a million to one odds, but it's better than 0

It won't go away and I see different people popping up with either lawsuits being threatened or speaking on it.
