The HC Dan Quinn Discussion Thread

I did and apologized for it. I wouldn't have been a jerk but discussed it maturely. I am a better speaker than typer as most of us probably are. I get what you're saying and I get intense at times were explaining via typing isn't as easy at speaking it. Make it easy for us older fans with a speak feature. LOL

I didn't read all of what you both said but I didn't think either of you went too far from what I did read. I'm sure we're all pretty punch happy after this dumpster fire of a season.

Plant me squarely in the camp of hoping Kliff Kingsbury is our OC in 2026. I understand that Jayden likely overcame a lot last year, and that didnt happen this year, but with what we dealt with simply at the playmaker position, I have a hard time asking him to still be able to orchestrate a prolific offense. No, that's not to say he's infallible, but for a large part of the season he was missing key players at different positions, including starting QB, and the defense couldn't get off the field. We also still were a top 5 rushing team in the league.

If we want to break it down simply to points.... we currently averaged 20.8 PPG. I personally believe that the injuries we sustained alone over the course of the season cost us 1 TD per game. If you look at the injuries of Terry McLaurin, Jayden Daniels, Ertz, Ekeler, Brown, McCaffrey... I honestly think we could get 1 more TD PER GAME if those 6 guys were healthy. If that's the case that would put us at 27.8PPG and that would be top 10.

edit:

I think this is a little bit excessive, but this site took the data of points scored by a player over the last 17 games, came up with an average, then multiplied that average by number of games missed by each player, and said we 'lost' 204 points this year to injury. Take that number and add it to the 332 points we did score and we 'would' have had 536 pts, or 33.5PPG which would have been the top spot, 3 pts higher than 2nd. Now of course i think this is a little bit inflated to level to expectation, but the data is there with missed time / points from key positions. Limitations were real.

The funny thing is, if you look at their stats--especially in the passing game--the reason they won was Fangio and Barkley. Their passing game was mediocre last year, and awful this year.

I seem to be the only one who's not down on Brian Johnson...
The acquisition of Barkley took the pressure off Hurts to do it all on the ground and has helped keep Hurts on the field the past two years.

Roseman was smart. In a league where qb attrition is very high using your qb as the primary playmaker on the ground is not a recipe for sustained success and longevity.

They're 11-5 and Hurts failed to complete a pass in a whole half of football multiple times. I believe they're 3-0 when they have 0 net passing yards in a half...

Look at Lamar Jackson. After years of bettering the odds it looks like hitting 30 that injuries and the beating he has taken is finally reducing his effectiveness.

I admit it took awhile longer than I expected.

True that and you can't change the frame of a person. JD is leaner than Jackson and can't take abuse that he has taken in Baltimore.

I try to post civil and respectful messages on this forum to everyone. I've known some of you for a long time and some a short time. This is supposed to be a board that we can share our thoughts and ideas and agree or disagree on all subjects. My intentions are not to offend but to have legit conversations. If I have angered someone or many, that the goal. My apologies.
You're very civil and respectful, and we all appreciate that.
But your point has been made...ad nauseam. I seriously doubt that you're going to change minds, so giving yourself carpal tunnel over it is going to hurt in the long run. Trust me.

I for one relish seeing Peters have a top pick in a non-qb year and the opportunity to move on from a lot of aging veterans and build the kind of younger, faster more athletic team a lot of us envisioned back in 2024.
Hope he can land Bailey or Downs, one of the two IF he doesn't trade down.

Oh, no. Daniels wouldn’t last another couple of years in this offense.
I don't think he'll last another few years with DQ in charge.

To me at least, he's already proven that he can't be trusted with the keys to the sports car. Just like a sixteen-year-old.

Quinn is going to get another year but I am disappointed he appears to be in bearing and lack of control a lot like Norv Turner to this point.

skinsmarydu , what's your read on the Raheem and Fontenot situation? Are both gone or just the GM?
From what I'm hearing on the radio, "Coach Rah" isn't gettin' it done, but most folks calling in are either "meh" about the whole team or wanna blow up the stadium since ATL United draw a better crowd and Blank built it for soccer anyhow. After the whole Kirk debacle, I think the Hawks (and I know the Dream) are even more popular teams in the city.
The name of the GM before "T/Font" (the names they give these guys crack me up!) escapes me, but the fan base ran him over with a double-decker bus...anything could happen. All depends on Arthur.

I said it many times already but again:
There are plenty of signs that AP would be unhappy with KK, and particularly DQ would be unhappy.

The main ones that I think are easily seen are here:
1) why did AP invest so much in OL? We are all in agreement on two simple things: AP went hard on OL. It was expensive in terms of draft capital. If you invest that much, you need the utilization to be high. If you buy a nice car and leave it in the garage all of the time (never drive it), most of us would say it was a bad investment. For AP, I think there is a lot of sound logic that would leave one to believe that he didn’t want as many designed runs for JD. If he wanted JD running around like last year, he actually would have paid MORE into WR (more release options), and LESS into OL. I think KK would have preferred that (based on the scheme he runs, and his playcalling). I think going heavy into OL, and seeing what we did this year- there is a logical disconnect.
2) while there is conjecture in #1, I think it is a lot of pretty clear and sound logic. That said, there is no conjecture in 2. DQ wants more running plays called at specific times. It is something quite a few of us have noticed and it has come up in DQ pressers multiple times over the last 2 years. He has not called out Kliff but in those weeks reporters asked both of them the same questions and got opposite answers, but what is telling is at times DQ went on for five minutes about it.

As an aside, to me, this is a bit of a hiring failure. DQ should have picked a coordinator who shared his philosophy. I don’t think this kind of discord typically ends well. I remember reports of discord between Al Saunders and Joe Gibbs a while back; more recently similar “presser discord” with Rivera and his OCs (Turner first, then EB).

None of this means the reporting is right that KK is gone. However at least between DQ and KK there has been disagreement that has gone on over these two years. That is probably too long.

For those who say it is bad to move on from KK, there may be a belief that KK scheme isn’t hood enough after two years or his playcalling isn’t. Again, they are in the room and we are not. There may be all sorts of conversations that we and even reporters are not privy too. When dealing with adults, that is bound to happen. If they don’t believe KK gives them the best shot another year of entrenching it into JD does damage arguably.

That doesn’t mean they would be better next year. Change is always a gamble. Doesn’t make it the wrong decision.

But WRs and RBs need the OL as well.
And I certainly don't mean to argue with you X & O guys...and as others have pointed out, there were "relaxed" OTAs and training camp. (I was watching TC video with repair guys here, lol)
I won't throw this season on any one or group. It was a combined non-effort, from Terry to injuries.

Let's go with the flow for now. If next season ends up like this one, then we've got something to worry about.

We've got it. We've got the solution to Dan Quinn's replacement!

Fake News Florio...

Wasn't Kliff the one pushing for our first rounder to be Conerly and not a player like Higgins or Henderson?

Kliff must know he is due a number of weapons in this off season. That should allow him to reduce the number of designed QB runs, right? Or is this just part of KK's scheme and won't move from killing the QB?

This would be a significant loss.
