The HC Dan Quinn Discussion Thread

The disconnect between Kliff and Peters, not sure what its about. I gather not leaning more into the running game? Otherwise Peters gave Kliff lemons as to passing weapons -- unless Peters wants him to make a sweeter lemonade off of Chris Moore, Robbie Chosen, etc than he did.

I just read that from Russini too. Interesting, given how much Kingsbury wanted, and ultimately got, Conerly in the draft. I'd still be rather shocked if he got fired.

What a change though, previously, if Allen didn't like someone, you knew it weeks before they were ultimately canned and embarrassed in the media.

I hope we move on from Kliff as well. JMO, folks. This twitter post by brandon, I hope is right. I'd like to see us bring in new, upcoming successful minds that have no connections with DQ so they can share their ideas with his. A new approach.

Kliff wasn't a connection to DQ hire. That's the defense.

Russini isn't always right.

The idea of Jayden starting over with a new offense in what is arguably a critical year 3 for this regime would be interesting, and not sure a good interesting.

• Kingsbury's head coaching candidacy is interesting despite Washington's struggles. The Commanders rank 21st in total offense -- ahead of Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh -- despite a poor supporting cast ravaged by injury. He's a potential fit in Tennessee, with a young quarterback in Cam Ward who fits his style of offense. Las Vegas, should that job open as many around the league expect, will take a hard look at improving its offense. Kingsbury has been selective but is also open to becoming a head coach again. So while he's not the shiniest name because of Washington's record, I could see him being in the mix again.

I’m not saying the report is not accurate but if it is this would be the first major leak for the organization.

I would much rather keep KK, and get rid of DQ.

We already know what we have in DQ. I still don't see anything that he brings to the table.

Yes, I know that KK wasn't a connection to DQ and I'd like to see the team hire another OC that isn't a connection to DQ again. I think KK's resume speaks for itself. He's had success in CFB that hasn't transitioned successfully to the NFL. Sure, he had some decent numbers with Arizona but they tailed off and it didn't work out. I'd like to see another OC brought in to work with JD and the O. Same with our DC. Let's go new hire w/o connections to DQ. That's just me. No reporter is always right, SIP. Everyone knows that. Even Keim makes mistakes but Keim's rep is better than Russini's. Critical as it may be, resetting is going to take place and as we know JD has been under 3 different OC while in CFB, Rob Likens (2019), Zak Hill (2020–2021) and Mike Denbrock (2022–2023) and now in the NFL, KK. Even though it was CFB, he's bright, works hard showing up early ready to learn and train, did well under those in CFB and moving on from KK, conjecture on my part, I think he would do well if we brought in another OC.

Offense worked like a charm in 2024. This year relatively speaking it was fine considering they had the worst receiving crew in the NFL.

He and Jayden's rapport according to Keim among others is a 10 out of 10. They both have insane work ethics and are at the facility often before 5 am working through game plans.

I recall Quinn mentioning when they were in Arizona before that game, next door to him was Kliff and Jayden and he were always together.

Often QBs, especially young QBs take a step back when they have to learn a new offense.

Call me crazy but I am not looking to add a monkey wrench as to Jayden's development.

I'll stop after this post as you know how I feel about KK and so should the rest that read the posts on here.

I am hoping KK is hired by another team as HC or we move on from him to another OC. (y)

Sure did. Shiny new QB, league not knowing JD and leaning him as the season went on. I'll also add that we had more injuries this year than last but I've already posted my thoughts overall on KK. In 2025 teams better schemed on KK's O as defenses adapted to KK's O. To me, KK's O gets figured out and he doesn't do a good job, at least in the NFL, keeping D's guessing. KK's success is in CFB and not in the NFL, I think. This is where I am at now with KK. Just giving you my honest feedback. Appreciate your feedback as it's good and enjoy reading it. I hope mine is relevant and adds to the forum. Call me crazy too but I think a socket or pipe wrench might be better to JD's development. No fury or disgust here on my end just friendly feedback. :)

I edit this post as I had two assistants that have been promoted as OC. I could spend my day looking for assistant O coaches that are ready to take the helm as OC's. There are more important things to as I like to get on and shoot the stuff with everyone and hear their opinions and give mine. This is what a forum board is for, for friendly suggestions and discussion. Good day and rap later with all of you.

Then how did we ever age almost 400 yards per game in the playoffs last year?

But you're probably right, it was scheme and not injuries up and down the roster.

Yeah, I'm in "the devil you know" camp.
