I thought I saw somewhere Paulsen was released. I might be wrong though. It's happened before. Twice. ;)

I'm concerned about WR and CB depth. Otherwise, I think that is a very solid roster. Hail to you, gentlemen.

Make it three times. Paulsen's a Redskin :)

Good to hear. The facetious article I read got a faint "well damn" out of me over that.

I also hope (my loathing for WVU notwithstanding) that Capers makes the PS along with Austin.

Well, truth is, the roster is never final until it's final (and even then). It's possible - even likely - that what we're looking at right this minute could change with waiver wire pickups or last minute moves. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

I gotta say the Banks/Austin decisions puzzle me. Banks does have that burst that is hard to pass on, but Austin seemed so much more consistent. Glad to see Paulsen on the squad. From what I saw live at Training Camp and from the games on DVR, this kid is a beast. I saw him pushing a lot of people around.

Reed Doughty, Safety for the Washington Redskins
. Does my opinion that he would be on the final 53 man roster mean my football IQ is not as poor as has been suggested?

Edit: Do you guys see anyone on the waiver wire you would consider at this point. It has been mentioned by PFT, and usually I take their "opinions" with a grain of salt, but TJ Housham.... seems like a viable option.

I guess most teams are like this, but, it seems like outside of our starters, we are very thin. Outside of the DL and the QB's (I actually think Grossman is serviceable) I don't think we have a great second string team.

However, most teams could probably claim the same.

REED DOUGHTY SUCKS!!!!

I read several articles that agree Reed doughty making the team over tyrone carter is a definate head scratcher..

yahoo sports - The Washington Redskins have released veteran safety Tyrone Carter(notes), according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. Carter, 34, had played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the previous six seasons, winning a pair of Super Bowl rings and hasn't missed a game since the 2004 season. As a vested veteran, Carter could be re-signed after the first week of the regular season when his salary for the entire year wouldn't be fullyguaranteed.

The 5-foot-9, 195-pounder was named the AFC defensive player of the week last season when he recorded two interceptions in a victory over the Denver Broncos.

Carter was signed earlier this month when safety Kareem Moore(notes) sprained his medial collateral ligament against the Baltimore Ravens.

Oh yeah, he's such garbage that Shanahan and Haslett chose not to cut him. You have a real hardon against him, and that's very odd.

I'm quite sure Kirbster can handle you on his own, but I for one have found your attitude the one that is childish and with the low football IQ.

Your posts are generally boorish and rude and I for one wish you would go back to where you came from.

Respond if you wish, but this is not up for debate on my part. Have a great day!

zOeboy,

I think it is fine that you do not like Doughty, I have no problem with that and neither does anyone else on this board (as far as I know). There are plenty of disagreements about players here. However, these disagreements are usually more civil. No one here attacks other posters for not agreeing with them. When you tell people that they have 'no football IQ,' well they are going to take it personally, as they should. When Doughty did not get cut, you should have known that you were going to recieve some ribbing for it.

Now, you may or may not be right about the whole Doughty situation, that is not the point here. I for one do not mind seeing you stick around as long as the personal attacks cease. Have a civil discussion, make your points, do not bring the subject up in multiple threads and once again do not attack board members. If you can do these couple little things, you will see that it can be quite nice around here. If you do not want to listen to my suggestions, there are other boards that you can have real discussions with other people that have real football knowledge.

Remember, no one here is a football expert, and I am going to go out on a limb and say that you are not either. Most people that sit at home and watch football on Sunday have limited knowledge about the game. You can only learn so much from the television. It is a little naive to believe that watching televised games gives someone superior football knowledge, no matter how many times it is done.

So, chill out enjoy the board and understand that people will disagree with you.

^^ Better listen to him, he's omniscent.

Actually, he's The Omniscent.

And modest too.

I was following the twitter feeds and ESPN 980 and some other spots on the net yesterday. Media sources on twitter ran that Paulsen had been cut (probably 1-2PM). It was later reported by both The Post and ESPN 980 that he'd been cut.

That much confirmation makes you think he was....heck I had it on my blog for hours before the Redskins finally put out the official statement (8:30PM).

We have some serious depth issues at O-line right now. Heyer well, is Heyer. He looked better this off season but still gets too high. He has an injury history also. Yes, he can play both tackle spots.....but I really think we need at least one more guy who could play tackle (not convinced it's Will Montgomery).

As for Lichtensteiger and Montgomery.....both are best at C both struggle at G. If they needed them in for 1 game I wouldn't be that worried. But say 4-5 games. Then I'm worried.

I have concerns with the WR corp. as well and I really hope Terrence Austin makes the practice squad. I'd like to see him on the active roster sometime this year.

WOW!!!! reed doughty must have gave some sob story about his son to danny smith.... to be honest reed doughty being on this team is like a charity case.

I read several articles that agree Reed doughty making the team over tyrone carter is a definate head scratcher..

Not sure why it is such a head scratcher. The kid is smart. And it isn't just Danny Smith keeping him around as, last time I checked, Haslett had him slated to start at FS in place of the injured Moore. Seems the defensive coaches like him too.

yeah i see ur point, if Reed makes the team the coaches made the call.

Glad to see Pauleson make the roster. I read he was cut as well and I wondered why they would go into the season with just two TE. Also, agree about O-line depth being weak. I imagine Brown missing some games this year.

The O-line scares me too... there are so many other areas like LB, CB, WR... wow this thing has got me all confused now....
