The Bombshell

They are trying to pin all of the culture issues on Bruce Allen - as if we are supposed to believe Snyder wasn’t aware of, supportive of and condoning it every step of the way. It appears the GOP report shows sharing of naked cheerleader pics via email.
I'm pretty good with idioms, but I just don't think the quote was "the buck stops at the middle."

The inability to take responsibility is often a sign of where responsibility lies.

GOP rebuttal apparently included nude photos of employees? Wow.

I wouldn't say nude. I found the report and have been skimming through the emails. They mostly appear to be from Calendar photos or random 'hot girl' types of photos off the internet with faces and other parts blacked out for the Skins cheerleaders so you can't tell who they are.

I will say this, I've had playful banter with guys, but this level stuff I grew out of soon after college and I certainly wouldn't have put it in the electronic domain let alone through work accounts.

These are work conversations as well. Yes - it appears the ‘good bits’ and faces are blacked out in those photos but still unnecessary and in extremely poor taste given how these women have been traumatized. And all in the name of trying to slime Bruce Allen enough to distract from the primary problem.

Oh, yeah. I think it's disgusting behavior what they are doing. As if Allen and Snyder weren't tied at the hip.

Good day for the NFL to polish their shield.

I think one of the exchanges where Snyder really loses credibility is this (paraphrased)

Committee Member: Mr. Snyder is it true that you approved a multimilion dollar settlement in 2009.
Snyder: Yes.
Committee: And what was the settlement for? What issues were at hand?
Snyder: I don't know. I don't remember.
Committee: Who did you render this multimillion dollar settlement to?
Snyder: I don't know.
Committee: So you handed out millions of dollars, but don't know who to or what for? Is it true that the settlement was to a group of cheerleaders.
Snyder: Yes.
Committee: Why did you agree to give these cheerleaders millions in settlement money.
Snyder: I have no idea.

Maybe it's that I'm not a billionaire and haven't had to settle so many cases that I don't keep them straight or maybe it's that I'm not a billionaire and a multi-million dollar settlement is such a trifle that I leave it to my lawyers and don't even ask them to keep me in the loop on these matters, but I don't buy that he was sued by former employees and felt it in his best interest to hand over a few million and has no idea why they were suing or what the plaintiffs were aledging.

They should have ended the interview at that point and made it clear that it was obvious Snyder was lying, obfuscating, and avoiding giving forthright answers and that this told the committee all they needed to know about the allegations and Snyder’s culpability.

What a lying POS this guy is…

Usually, I might buy that a billionaire doesn't know who or how much got paid to settle a suit because when you put it in perspective, a few million is chump change to them. For one of us, millions are more than we can hope to throw around at once. It is retirement money. But do the math for a second. If you have a billion dollars and pay someone 5 million, it is just like one of us having a thousand dollars and paying someone $5.

And billionaires get sued a lot, or so I'm told.

However, with the focus on this very kind of behavior, with the investigations going on right and the recent past, with all the questions those investigations raised about this very event - I don't believe for one minute that Snyder doesn't remember the broad facts of the case like what it was about and why he settled.

Moreso, as his team prepped for this interview with the House Committee, there is no way this is an area that they decided not to prep him for. I mean the case is about workplace conditions and the cheerleaders primarily. Is there any chance Snyder's lawyers in preparing him wouldn't review a five million dollar settlement to cheerleaders based on harassment or an issue directly related to the reason why he's been summoned before Congress?

It's not credible.

I agree. But it’s not just that, he said he knew it was for cheerleaders. So he clearly knew what it was for, he just didn’t want to answer. If he had said he didn’t know it was for them, then the defense of being a billionaire and paying out “chump change” may be plausible. But he admitted he knew who it was for collectively. He’s too dumb to survive this.

That's just unbelievable. How many settlements has he gone through for multi-million dollars. And as Burgold said, he was likely prepped by his lawyers prior to the testimony.
