And here it is. Going after the team, the owner, the NFL, and the Commissioner in a civil complaint.

 


About time. I'm having a bad day and feeling salty, but I hope they burn it all to the fucking ground.
 
Wonder how that affects potential buyers? Doesn't scare them off, but brings the price down?
 
The Attorney General including the NFL and Goodell is huge. Now, it makes sense why the owners abandoned Snyder and the sale talk started.
Someone heard a whisper about what was about to drop.
 
This isn't as earth-shattering as a criminal indictment would be but it's still pretty serious (I think). Especially since it includes the Commissioner and the NFL.
 
I'm am underwhelmed. Nothing really new beyond inclusion in the suit of Roger and the NFL. Remains to be seen what if any effect that could have on the sale.

At least the AG didn't use the platform to announce he was putting together a bid to buy the team.

The more I think about it the more underwhelmed I am too. And a touch worried that the AG is potentially pushing the NFL and Goodell into the boat with Snyder. The world is better off if Snyder has no allies, even allies of circumstance.
 
Nah. This is the first time the NFL and Goodell have officially been associated with Snyder's actions. Nobody was ever going to go to jail over any of this, but it's good to see SOMEONE acknowledge the league's role in all of it.
 
As long as it gets rid of Snyder. That's all I care about.

I’m out of town, so I’m not paying much attention beyond what you all are saying. But my brother had a good question. Headquarters are in Virginia and the Stadium in MD. What does the team or for that master the NFL legally operate in DC? Does this have legs, or is it just piling on what is already in motion?
 
Remains to be seen. The DC case is founded on "consumer protections," so they're basically saying the lies/collusion between the NFL and Snyder about the "internal investigation" did harm to DC residents by causing them to spend money on team stuff based on false representations.

At least that's how I heard it ... which does seem a little flimsy at first blush ... but I also know consumer protection cases can be tenacious and result in legit damages.

What makes this new thing different is it's not just Dan's lawyers involved. The NFL has lotsa money and lotsa esquires who wear expensive suits.

I saw someone ask this question on Twitter and the answer was that a number of the victims live in DC.

As long as a single DC Resident is 'wronged' then it opens the door to jurisdiction.
 
It really doesn't matter if the DC AG's case get's dismissed, whether it goes to trial and folks like Snyder have to testify, whether it's won or lost. It's that the folks who were wronged by Snyder are getting their day, their allegations are being aired, in the fresh air of the public space. Wrongs were done, intentionally and knowingly by folks in power. And one way or another, they are going to have to answer for them.

These are good things.
 
It is all coming home to roost.

And selling the team likely won't fix it all.
