The best QB in Fedex tonight...

I love Griffin. I want him to be our QB for the next 15 years. I just do not understand why he cannot get it through his thick ****ing skull that a) his coaches have told him he has to eat bad plays and not make them worse by trying to make every play a TD, and b) that he can't survive playing recklessly. Brian has beaten this drum from day 1, and I have to say, I'm finally with him on this.

I hope Gruden has big enough balls to make it clear to Griffin that if he continues to make bad decisions, as well as put his own health at risk unnecessarily, that he won't be the starter.

I'm starting to think Griffin may really not be very coachable. I don't want to think that - but when your head coach has recently and repeatedly made public comments about your need to make better decisions and protect yourself, and your response is to come out and make terrible decisions in the very next game, and damn near get yourself hurt in a pre-season game - well, I don't know what else to make of that?
 
well...it'll be an interesting week. my guess is the pundits will put some pressure on RG.

we sold the farm for this cat. he has all the tools.....he just doesn't look in command out on the field. I can't tell if he's waiting too long in the pocket, not reading well, the o-line is porous...whatever. it does seem the quick passing game he can handle. it's when he has to wait for plays to develop that the problems creep in.

Yea, it's like a running-QB version of Brett Favre.
Only difference is instead of getting all those extra interceptions from forced throws, and forced TD's, we get the greater threat of injury, from forced runs for extra yardage.
 
All kidding aside about Rexy, the biggest problem from last year looks like it could still be a big problem this year. Chester and Polumbus are picking up right where they left off last year, getting beat way too often.

I gotta admit, I like that penalty...it means nothing in terms of the outcome of the game, but it shows your coach is willing to fight for you...which can be a double edged sword.

I was hoping he could step up late last season as London drifted...he just couldn't crack the field. What I will say is he is in complete control of the 2nd team defense...he plays defensive QB very well in the middle. Not sure he has the physical tools, but he is a smart player who seems to get into the right position with less physical talent.

As for Griffin, I watched him make some great progressions, the completion to Jackson for a 1st down on the 2nd play just before Morris' fumble showed maturity and patience. Then...when the game gets going...he reverts back to his dependence on his physical attributes, even though he still seems a step slower than his rookie year and he is still reckless.

Wow. I saw a different game. I was pleased with Griffin and Cousins...Griffin still needs to learn how to slide though and he's taking too many big hits. He played well in the pocket though with the limited playing time. The redzone offense wasn't very sharp but that is to be expected with so many new faces.
 
Jason Campbell called Griffin's slide last night "awkward"
 
I guess my perspective is off. I can't agree with the negativity at all about the QB. Yea RG3 needs to work on slides but I thought he looked very good otherwise and his play in the pocket was quite good.

I thought Griffin played well but him returning to form will mean nothing of he gets his knee wrecked for a third time. He minimized his role in keeping that from happening again in post-game comments. It's not that hard Griffin - stop turning upfield into defenders and start heading to the sidelines.

It's a bit early in the process to determine if he is coachable...It's only the second preseason game...

The only problem I had with Robert last night was the decision to lower his shoulder into a tackler instead of ducking out of bounds. Because that's a mental thing. We know he KNOWS he can't throw his body into people like that, but his instinct still took over on that one. In a preseason game. And that's cause for concern.

The awkward sliding problem is clearly a problem, but it's physical, not mental. Yeah he slides like an octopus falling out of a tree, but the point is he's sliding--not taking on a tackler. At some point he's going to figure out how to fall down without twisting up his legs under him--I really have no doubt about that.

Assuming he lives long enough to do so given he'll still lower his shoulder into a tackler in a preseason game.

Its the 2nd preseason game of his third season. If he can't avoid big hits with his mind his legs can't cooperate. Cue the crowd who defend him by saying he didn't play two complete seasons so its not his 3rd year really... He didnt complete those seasons because he doesnt avoid big hits.


Throwing that pick when it should've been tossed out of bounds isnt being talked about enough either. That was a rookie throw.
