The All Things Terry Thread

If you think about it, it had to take a phenomenal screw up not to get the Terry deal done. Commanders were super-motivated. Terry wanted to be here. We were coming off a dream season.

This should have been pretty easy. Terry gets a slight overpay and he and the team would have been happy and in business.
You are correct - it should have been easy. The problem is McLaurin is motivated by money and money only. Championships are not his priority.

Problem with any trade is the receiving team still has to pay TM what TM thinks he's worth.

Wheres Dan Snyder when you need him? Maybe he can buy the Browns and show them that all they've been through was nothing compared to the 9th circle of hell.

Hed send two firsts to us and then pay him 40M

Not necessarily—he might accept less, if it’s more than he could get from the Commanders.

The time has come to nip this in the bud.
That time is long past.

I don't understand what Terry's side is waiting for.

Nothing is going to change except he's going to lose money.

The one thing I do think Peters needs to consider is some way for Terry to sign a deal and not look like a complete dipshit, and as much as it pains me to say this, or the agent look incompetent. Because the agent isn't going to want to just capitulate and then have to say "yeah, my bad" publicly. If that's the case, it's going to take the agent longer to get to that point.

The game of chicken is if Terry thinks by him sitting out, and the Commanders potentially losing, that would increase his leverage. And it might. But I actually rather doubt Peters would capitulate to overpay Terry if he sits out and they lose to the Giants.

And in that scenario, Terry loses ~$850k in a game check.

So, if nothing is going to change, it's time to either make a deal or agree that there won't be a deal.

The time is now. Nothing is going to change.

I put this in another thread: there was a rumor the Dolphins were interested in Brian Robinson because of an injury to some running back.

Terry + BRob for Tyreek Hill? Straight up. I think it would not be possible because of the cap hit Miami would have to take, but if there was a way to make that happen?

Thoughts? Hill is under contract for 2 more years.

I think it's intriguing but doubt AP would go for it. He's a clown and doesn't really fit the "Commander" tag they always talk about. LOL

The guy admitted he doesn't like watching film and studying game plans. However, it makes you wonder if he could be controlled with a stronger locker room and staff.

"The former All-Pro made a wild admission—he doesn't watch film. Instead, he plays the Madden video game to gauge the cornerbacks he's going to face each week."

I don't think it's physically possible, so I was kindof joking. And I doubt Miami would want to pay Terry top dollar while also eating some of Hill's cap hit

But, eh, if it came down to it, I'd definitely listen.

Would rather they do something with Jayden's injured buddy in SF! LOL

49ers trade proposal for Terry McLaurin

The perfect 49ers trade proposal ironically involves a receiver on their team. In this scenario, San Francisco would send Aiyuk to the Commanders for McLaurin and a third-round pick.

There aint no way I would send Terry + a third round pick for a WR coming off of a torn ACL. Straight up? I'd hear you out. If Aiyuk wasn't coming off an ACL? Ok, maybe. But I wouldn't send anything other than Terry on a Soutwest flight to SF.

Plus, that contract is really iffy with his injury. Straight up swap? I'm down.

SF may be content with one year McLaurin and rid themselves of that Aiyuk contract. We are then stuck gambling on a 30M recovered Aiyuk over an overpaid McLaurin. A better bet because of age.

Why would we trade for a receiver coming off an ACL, still unready to play, and give up extra picks to do so?

Right now, I wouldn't even trade Terry for Aiuk straight up. The 49ers would have to sweeten the pot.

It’s a lot worse than that. It was an ACL, MCL, and meniscus. Clean ACL tears are pretty simple recoveries but this one was extra messy. Hard pass.

I highly doubt the Aiyuk contract is even possible to trade, all the future signing bonus cap hits spread throughout the deal would accelerate and hit the cap immediately, and he had a huge contract

Apparently 106.7 Pittsburgh said that Peters offered Terry to Pittsburgh for Par Freiermuth and a 2nd.

I’d take that deal. I don’t think it’s real though.

that's completely a fake deal. it doesn't even make sense in my mind...but i'm just an idiot. I just don't see how that even makes sense.
