Yea, pictures are always tricky and sometimes his face looks a little big anyways. Jayden told AP that he's ready to go so hopefully that is correct

I completely understand the argument that we can't count on him to be anything this coming year. I don't understand the argument that he's not worth a fully unguaranteed contract to see what he could become - IMO that's very low risk and potentially high reward.

I agree and it's why no one is trading for him.

I heard the radio guys suggest a team on draft day may throw a 7th at SF if they didn't draft a receiver they like. Such irresponsible reporting, no team is taking on that contract.

It's a big turnoff if he has allowed himself to get out shape like that. It would add another red flag with his name

If I remember correctly, the 49ers can hold onto him without any extra cost all the way up to opening day. We are totally at their mercy, and Aiyuk would have to both get in shape and learn an entirely new offense at the same time.

What he's worth is a look.

Either now if the niners will let us or when hes released we bring him in and evaluate where he's at and proceed from there.

If he seems to be in good shape and in a mental state that suggests he's ready and willing to contribute and its a real possibility, we explore options with either a trade and new contract or if hes a free agent a contract commensurate with how he looks.

If he's overweight and or his mental state suggests the games will continue into next year we pass and move on to plan b or c or wherever we are at that point.

In a way its not that much different from the draft where you are conducting interviews and physical tests to determine value.

But I think they will get cap space after June 1st once they release him. That is why people think that he will be released on June 2nd

I don't believe we would be allowed to meet or talk with Aiyuk until June 2. How would we know what kind of shape he'd be in at that point? And there is no guarantee the Niners won/t continue to put the screws to him and P.

I am a bit amused that fans that are so critical of some players and others belief in their development at the same time are supremely confident that Brandon Aiyuk who has two 1,000 yard seasons in the NFL that came almost 2 years ago is going to be such a great asset for this organization at 28, climbing mountains because he's on the team with his friend.

The NFL is not a pick up recreation league where you are short a power forward and you call a buddy on the phone and have him drive over to help you win.

There's a lot more to it than that. The fact Terry has 5 1,000 yard seasons on his resume since 2019 playing most of that time with trash quarterbacks and Aiyuk has 2 1,000 yard seasons since 2020 working with one of the most creative offensive minds in the game in SF doesn't have me believing he is a franchise wide receiver just waiting in the wings to put on his cape and become great again.

In fact you can look at his 1,372 yard season and make an argument THAT is the outlier season and one that he will never come close to duplicating again.

I get the skepticism on Aiyuk, but I think the appeal is that Jayden trusts him and seems to do better when he has that kind of rapport with his receivers. That and we are in a position where we have to take some chances at the position and hope a few of those wildcards pay off.
