Gotta be something with Deebo, either he is looking for too much money, possible injury or the FO was feels they can do better.

I think he is in a position with a lot of others; they have a max they are willing to pay. I think their approach is generally like that, have a value. I don’t know, we didn’t hear of anything locker room wise or anything else so won’t speculate.

Dyami 1-yr 3-mill probably feels good to them. Only emboldens the wait and see strategy. At this phase of FA the players get more anxious. I think cat and mouse favors teams at this point generally.
 
The silence from the Aiyuk camp throughout all this is deafening. While the SF brass’ narrative is that basically he’s a lunatic - the other narrative is that SF used him rehabbing away from the team as a loophole to void his guarantees and then refused to play him after he rejoined the team. I had to imagine there is more to unpack by Aiyuks camp and they have been sitting idly just waiting for release. If SF continues this game of hostage, it likely gets uglier.

That doesn’t mean Aiyuk is absolved from criticism for how he’s handled things, or more importantly - that he’s healthy enough to pick up where he left off.

I am most worried about his health, way over and above any of the other drama.
 
Agreed. Without being healthy(as some reports are his knee is cooked) he is not an NFLer.

It will be interesting to see if this plays out that SF is more negligible in handling this issue and how it gets viewed or handled by the rest of the league if they are.

Not much he can say right now. San Fran holds all the cards. Anything he says to exacerbate the argument will only make things worse for him. San Fran apparently has no reason to release him before 9/1 so I don’t see a world where they do. Why would they want to help us (or any other team) when there is no benefit to them? AP would be wise to proceed with the assumption that the Aiyuk thing ain’t happening.

If you believe the reports, then it's in his best interest to just keep his mouth shut.

From what has been suggested, and the reason he's so disgruntled, is because he apparently re-habbed back, and the team made it clear to him that they were going to keep him on ice because of a 'loophole' in his contract where they could get out of the money owed, so told them that essentially, if you're not going to honor the contract, i wont either. I still have concerns about him and his tactic, but if that's actually how it went down, i can't really blame him for getting upset if that narrative was going to then be hitting the public eye that he's an injury risk malcontent.
 
I dunno. People keep calling it a loophole, as if it was hidden in invisible ink or something. What kind of agent doesn’t know the details of a multi million dollar contract? BA needed to be rehabbing with the team as per his contract so it’s 100% on him and his agent that he failed to do so. If there was a good reason for rehabbing on his own, he should’ve cleared it with the team first. And considering his behavior all along, I don’t blame San Fran one bit for holding his feet to the fire and doing what’s best for their team.

AP should move on from this and instead maybe add a few million to his offer to Jennings.

Was he not part of last year’s RB room heading into the season? Of course nobody could predict a season ending injury. You can’t make an equivalency between this season and last season by conveniently leaving Ekeler out.

You're not wrong, but we saw very similar action here regarding Trent Williams. Trent was going by the word of the team and the Drs and ultimately lost his crap when he found out things may have been much more serious than it was, and blamed the team. Should Trent have known better than to take a possible cancer diagnosis lightly because an NFL trainer told him it was nothing to worry about? Probably, but we all know that the team likely didnt handle themselves correctly and it caused a fall out with arguably the best LT to touch an NFL field. If the team is telling Aiyuk that he's 'all good' and then uses that action as a way to get out of paying him guaranteed money... i could see a scenario like that being in the gray area.

I don’t disagree that AP can’t count on getting Aiyuk or even that he’ll be healthy enough that we’d want to play him.

But if the rumors of what Jennings is wanting are true, there’s no chance we’ll be bringing him in. Time to look at the draft.

I think a lot of people predicted he wouldn’t stay healthy and would struggle carrying the load…

Season ending injury that early wasn’t on the bingo board but wasn’t surprising.

It was very relevant to the statement you made, and to how we finished the offseason and entered the regular season last year.

Agreed, you can’t make a point based on statistics and not include him.
