The 2026 Free Agency Thread

So with the addition of White, it seems we’ve added players at every major need position except WR, and that is likely to be addressed in part with Aiyuk. Not bad.

Hopefully this doesn’t mean they plan to pass on Love for a WR, but maybe the smart money has him off the board by the time we pick anyway.

Maybe not on a major contracts, But Jayden’s getting some friends brought in on accommodating contracts, he’ll have influence.

No doubt.... with the White contract, if there are three options, all are decent, getting your star QB someone he has a good relationship with is a no brainer.

I was interpreting the other comment as then somehow overlooking other options they would prefer in favor of Jayden's friends. I don't think that has or will happen.

Lemon over Tyson for me definitely. And if it really is to be a Lions style offense, Lemon is a pretty damn good knock off of ARSB. I’d much prefer Love or Tate but if they’re both gone, trading back a couple spots and grabbing Lemon is pretty solid. Maybe get an extra 3rd out of it.

And if there aren’t any trade down partners, I might even want Lemon over Downs at 7. Would need to see a lot more but it’s possible my wish list ends up in that order.
I don't see Lemon as a first round draft choice, certainly not a few picks back at say 11 or 12.

Eagles might be sniffing around as AJ Brown will be outgoing.

I mean, different league players, but that’s the talk.
Jennings asking price must have come down. Roseman doesn't often pay above market rates.

While Jennings is a very solid player he is not elite and any team signing him ideally would still have a #1 on the other side.

What I am wondering here is if Peters had an issue with giving the then 29 year old McLaurin a multi-year deal at high AAV in 2025 that he may not want to give the 29 year old Jennings a bit less but still a high AAV in a similar situation in 2026.

There is a bias in the NFL against giving receivers and backs a lot of money as they approach 30 unless they are special players like Barkley or a J'Marr Chase, etc.
That and I believe that AP just feels like Jennings is solid but nothing special so he's hot a certain number in mind that he's not going over. Then it's a cat and mouse game to see if he is out bid but I don't think that AP will lose sleep exactly if we miss out

Well that would be ballsy I my eyes to take Lemon at 7 butt I guess stranger things have happened

Jennings must be in one year prove it deal territory now.

I agree. I think Peters knows there are 3 or 4 receivers in the draft that will be taken in Round 1 or the top of Round 2 that can come in and make a difference here and then we have team control over salary for a number of years into the future.

Salaries at WR in FA have gotten among the most outrageous.

The longer it goes the less likely I think it is that Jennings comes here.

Agreed, the longer it goes the worse our chance of him signing with Washington

Is there a chance that Jennings knows we're likely in on Aiyuk and doesn't want to have to compete with Terry and Aiyuk for targets?

I mean, he'd prolly still come if we threw him a huge bag.... but if we're offering something in the same neighborhood as other teams...

Yep, especially with a number of WRs available at the top of the draft who project to be better players in the NFL coming out.
Only having picks at #7 and #71 through 2 days doesn’t really help matters right now.

Nah, I reckon it’s money…unless there is an unknown issue knocking around.

It does if WR remains one of the single greatest needs of the team and we can get into position to draft a player at the right spot given relative value.

The fact we have #7 overall is an asset.

We don't know who might fall in the first 6 picks and more importantly who might NOT fall and that might make a team want to move up to our pick and then we fill in that #2 we currently don't have and perhaps the #4 as well.

We can still get a starting WR IMO from 15-20.

I think, unless I'm very much mistaken, that the best 2 WRs still available are Jennings and Deebo.

Jennings - Former 49er
Deebo - Former 49er

And soon to be available:
Aiyuk - Former 49er

It's actually becoming somewhat possible we could sign all 3. :p

I know folks might think Deebo is not a fit and they're just going to move on, however the longer this goes, and he's without a team, I know Quinn really liked him. If he's not expected to be the #2 guy, he has a good rapport with Daniels, eh? Maybe he comes back.

I wouldn't hate bringing Deebo back along with another clear outside WR, who most likely is Aiyuk.

That would give them:
Terry
Aiyuk
Deebo
McCaffery
Lane
Burks

I could honestly live with that. It wouldn't have been my preference, and I think they still need to get another WR. But it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. And they could still draft a guy and cut Burks.
